This play just missed out on our premium card. The Giants and Reds kick off a weekend series on Friday night and the Under has all kinds of value in this one. The Giants have a stud on the mound in Matt Cain. In his last four starts he has only given up a total of three runs, and I look for that type of domination to continue in this game. At the plate the Giants have all kinds of problems scoring runs. They average 3.45 runs per game which is 29th in baseball.

On the mound for the Reds is Bronson Arroyo who has struggled this season, but given the Giants struggle at the plate he should be able to keep the bats in check. Some trends to note. Under is 6-1 in Giants last 7 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Under is 26-8-4 in Arroyos last 38 starts with 4 days of rest.

I have 2 words for you - TONY PARKER - the floor general for San Antonio is out and that is a HUGE blow to the Spurs. Add in the fact the Rockets are off a butt kicking where Harden played terrible, and they are at home, this line should be 7 in my opinion.

Harden is banged up alittle and the stats all favor the Spurs - but messing with team chemistry on the fly at this point in the season despite Coach Pop being one of the best, is a tall chore. Houston just 1-6 ATS on their home floor the last 7 games, I am NOT riding that trend here.

Houston by 10 - Lay the -4.5

I like this spot for Tampa Bay with their ace Chris Archer on the mound. Archer rebounded from a couple ugly starts in his last outing, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits over 7 1/3 innings on the road against Toronto. That was Archer's 7th straight start against the Blue Jays in which he's allowed 2 earned runs or less.

Archer is also a much better pitcher at home than he is one the road. Tampa Bay has won all 3 of his starts at home , compared to going 1-2 in his 3 starts on the road. Keep in mind during last year's disappointing season, he had a 2.65 ERA at home compared to a 5.44 ERA on the road.

Toronto is a mere 5-11 on the road and have lost both of their road games when veteran Francisco Liriano takes the mound. Liriano has a 11.13 ERA and 2.827 WHIP in those 2 road starts (only 5 2/3 innings). Liriano also owns a ugly 5.18 ERA and 1.430 WHIP in 11 career starts against the Rays. Take Tampa Bay!

The Atlanta Braves are showing solid value as small home favorites over the St. Louis Cardinals tonight. The Braves are scoring 4.7 runs per game on the season while the struggling Cardinals are scoring just 4.1 runs per game.

The Cardinals have a couple key injuries heading into this game to two of their best hitters. Center fielder Dexter Fowler is expected to miss this game with a shoulder injury, while right fielder Stephen Piscotty is doubtful with a hamstring injury. That leaves their outfield in shambles.

I like what I've seen from Mike Foltynewicz, who has posted a 2.28 ERA and 1.183 WHIP in four starts this season. He has faced the Cardinals once in his career, giving up just one earned run in 6 innings of a 6-3 victory last season.

DMack's Bonus Play for Friday, May 5, 2017 is on the Cleveland Cavaliers

The line opened at 2/2.5 and at this writing there are not even any 4s to be had so at this point the horse is pretty much out of the barn. That said, the Cavs are 7-1 L8 in the series and have won their last three games on this floor by 26-3-4. Lowry is playing on a rolled ankle and DeRozan has been invisible leaving the Raptors with little offense and definitely no trade points with a Cavs outfit that shot lights out at The Quick. The Cleveland masterplan has to be to go out and get this one and then get the sweep on Sunday to maximize rest as Boston and Washington slug it out on the other side of the bracket. Toronto could put up a fight in the first half but that's it. Cleveland 120-106.

The Cincinnati Reds were supposed to be in a rebuilding mode this season, but strong play of late has the team at .500 and pointed upward. The Reds will try to push their winning streak to three and move past the break-even point when they host the National League-worst San Francisco Giants in the opener of a three-game series on Friday.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants RH Matt Cain (2-0, 2.30 ERA) vs. Reds RH Bronson Arroyo (2-2, 7.20)

Cain stumbled a bit in his first start this season but was dominant in the next four, allowing a total of three runs in 23 innings. The Alabama native only lasted five innings in a no decision against San Diego on Saturday but yielded one run while striking out seven without walking a batter. Cain won his lone start against Cincinnati last season and is 5-5 with a 3.44 ERA in 12 career starts against the Reds.

Arroyo is making a comeback after a 2 1/2-year layoff following arm surgery and posted a pair of wins over Baltimore and the Chicago Cubs on April 18 and April 23. The Florida native was not quite as sharp in his last start, when he was reached for four runs on five hits and four walks in four innings without factoring in the decision at St. Louis. Arroyo is 2-1 with a 5.29 ERA in three starts at home.

Giants are 4-1 in Cains last 5 starts with 5 days of rest. Reds are 3-14 in Arroyos last 17 starts after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game.
