Aqueduct - Race #9 - Post: 5:28pm - Maiden Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $36,000 Class Rating: 82

DENDRITE - This horse obviously likes the conditions for today's race. Has ********** the highest Equibase speed figure on the grass at the distance-surface. Last time around the track on the sod, this horse was great. Anything close right here in this race, and this one should win. Montanez should have him moving solid on the turn. This gelding is obviously on the improve with speed ratings of 75, 79, 88 last 3 out. CAPTAIN KEON - Arroyo and Ubillo perform well when they partner up. It's hard to beat a +280 return on investment for a jockey and handler. I think that the addition of the 'shades' today will keep his mind on the race at hand.

Vulnerable Contenders: #9 AZORIAN (ML=3/1), #12 HOOPING (ML=7/2), #8 SOLO APPROACH (ML=7/2),

AZORIAN - 3/1 is not enough of a price to take on this entrant. HOOPING - A bit of a less than stellar effort when this gelding finished sixth. SOLO APPROACH - This less than sharp equine showed little last time finishing eighth. Don't see any hint of a reversal of fortune in today's race. You think this horse is going to be victorious just because he's always close. Just doesn't finish first often.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - DENDRITE - This gelding is at the top in the field in earnings per start. I'm making a wager on this one.

My pick in here is THE QUEEN'S REIGN. Must be given a chance here on the basis of the figs in the speed section alone. Looks solid to be close to the front end at the first call. The average Equibase class rating alone makes this one a contender. MISTRESS GALLOP - She has put up solid figures under today's conditions and should fare well against this group of horses. Displays the look of a profitable play, averaging a solid 79 speed rating which is one of the most competitive in this group of horses. JUST B POSITIVE - The Equibase speed fig of 78 from her most recent race looks strong in here. Have to assume this pony will make a good showing again today.

GROOVY BOP is the most respectable bet in this race. Flores will almost certainly be able to get this colt to break out quickly in this race. His earnings per start in dirt sprint races alone makes you take a look at him. DI COLAS POINT - Armstrong is trying to prove victorious with this horse by bringing him back so quickly. BOOSHEBA - Looks very strong against this group of horses and ought to be one of the front-runners.

OUR NIECE - The jock/handler duo of Clemente and Williams has a strong ROI together. This mare is in first-rate physical condition right now. Finished third last out and comes back soon. Generally accepted angle - 3rd or 4th start after a layoff generally leads to a big effort. Should run big today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 MRS LOUD MOUTH (ML=8/5), #3 HEARSAY SOCIAL (ML=7/2), #2 SHE'S RISKY (ML=6/1),

MRS LOUD MOUTH - Hasn't been on the Tampa Bay oval in the last two to three weeks. Cause for some concern. HEARSAY SOCIAL - Didn't finish in the money on March 2nd at Tampa Bay. Followed it up with another lackluster effort. SHE'S RISKY - I can't play this confirmed non-winner. Gets the job finished once in a while.

Also worthy of consideration, particularly if you want to go a bit deeper in your exotic wagers such as the trifecta or superfecta, is #2 Thunder Strike, who makes his U.S. debut and has been working well.

Possible exacta wager: $1 exacta box 3,5,7

Contenders: Helped out by an early pace battle for the lead between Chart Topper and Laddie Boy, both who have earned their ONLY wins (all 4 of them) leading from start to finish, Ry's the Man figures to get the same trip he got the last time he sprinted on turf, on 1/19, when rallying from 7th to win by a head on the wire. He also won his most recent race, on the turf at a mile, jockey Geroux up then as today, so has every reason to run well enough to win in this situation on the cut-back in distance, which should afford him a good amount of energy in the late stages.

Rope a Dope has won 2 of 4 career races, both when running fresh as he's doing here. The first was when winning his debut in a turf sprint last September and the 2nd was last December when coming back from a layoff to win. Overmatched in a stakes off that 2nd win, he's been rested 3 months and adds blinkers as well as gets John Velazquez to ride, more signs he's going to fire with his best shot, that shot being good enough to win.

Bisque also won in his career debut, in a turf sprint last July. He hasn't run on grass since but was 1st or 2nd in four straight since the win, before his last race when he finished 3rd. His 12/28 effort off a 2 month layoff mirrors today's situation and so he rounds out a tough trio of horses that stick out against the other five entrants.

"Perhaps" that is why the service has a winning record, unlike services like The living and dead "Friends" of the long rotted corpse of Mike Lee which regulary give out 10-15 picks a day whichh includes all sports, and which NEVER win over the longer term.
