Written and authored by National Basketball Association Expert Analyst Charlie McDougall. Charliessports.com produces it for Basketball news. The 2015 Oklahoma City Thunder General Manager Sam Presti just made the Thunder relevant again. The Thunder parted way’s with starting Center Kendrick Perkins and reserve Point Guard Reggie Jackson.

Perkins along with Forward Grant Jarrett and future draft picks was sent to Utah for Center Enes Kanter. Jackson will be in a Detroit uniform, in return Oklahoma City got Point Guard D.J. Augustin and Forward Kyle Singler. The Thunder also got veteran Sharp Sooter Steve Novak from the Jazz.

This Sports Handicapper is all in with the Thunder and Presti, who made the most noise Thursday. Enes Kanter verbally committed to the University of Kentucky in 2011 but was ineligible. The 6’11” Kanter was the third overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. Kanter averages nearly fourteen-points per game. Kanter can space the floor in the paint and is much more a scoring threat than Perkins. Swingman Steve Novak is entering his ninth year in the league and at 6’10” can bury the three-point shot, he’s not a Kevin Durant but has a similar skill set as the 2014 NBA Point Spread Predictions Most Valuable Player. It almost seems Presti is building a team similar to San Antonio. The players acquired have one thing in common they can all score the basketball, but a are not great athletically. Presti deserves an A+ grade for the trade with Utah. Perkins has not been the same since his knee injury a few years ago coming over from Boston. Kanter is certainly an upgrade for the Thunder style of Basketball. It looks like Oklahoma City will try to outscore opponents the rest of the season and in the Playoffs.

Can this type of line-up win Championships? Presti was not done as the trade deadline comes to an end. “OKC” sent talented Point Guard Reggie Jackson to Detroit in return the Thunder got Point Gaurd D.J. Augustin and Forward Kyle Singler. Both Agustin and Singler can score points. Augustin is playing for his fifth team in three years and hopes to bring a spark when star Russell Westbrook needs a break. Augustin is being reunited with his College teammate Durant. Kyle Singler can also space the floor and bury the three pointer. The 6’9″ sharpshooter from Duke spent a couple of years overseas before coming home to become a member of the Pistons. It’s going to be feast or famine for Presti and the Thunder. Oklahoma City will alway be good as long as Durant and Westbrook are on the roster; now the pressure is on the rest of the Western Conference to keep up with the Thunder. Going over the betting odds total with Oklahoma City will be a good play for ATS bettors now through the playoffs.
