i gotta say....who the hell was involved with this weigh-in?.....
i can`t remember EVER seeing one guy looking so much bigger than his opponent at this weight level(where even a few pounds is crucial)......
this is the kind of stuff that espn pulls just to get their shows going...i understand the dilemna of trying to put on decent fights on relatively short notice, but,if viloria wasn`t 10 or more pounds heavier than keb-baas when they stepped into the ring, then i need my eyes examined....
valdosta hit it on the head....my brother came over to watch the fights last night and we both were surprised at the size differential....
i think what disappointed me most was the fact that teddy and tessitore mentioned that viloria was the stronger guy....but,they failed to mention that he looked like he was a good 2 weight classes bigger...they knew....just by their omission, they knew....
sometimes a guy carries his weight in his legs...not here...viloria was taller and much thicker from head to toe......
reminiscent of the gatti-gamache fight several years ago....pretty much ended gamache`s career....also brings to mind scott harrison pounding little skinny-armed wayne mccullough for 12 rounds a few years back....
dangerous stuff with the really small guys....where a few pounds is magnified several times....
i think they`re lucky they didn`t have a disaster on their hands...
and,yes...freddie roach is a solid trainer..
i still remember his fights vs tommy cordoba and bobby chacon......
they made a movie about jackie kalen....a joke.... with meg ryan(ridiculous) ....and now a tapia movie....imo,another joke...about a guy that fought his whole career being protected by his wife....
if they want to make a real boxing movie....i mean A REAL boxing movie....make it about freddie roach....you could probably do a 4 hour movie on him...
..hopefully,the parkinson`s doesn`t get the best of him any time soon.......
