We know those writers are not very smart.

To me he is a borderline HOF. I think Rice probably belongs, not sure why he isn't in it. Problem with Evans is he really has no career-defining season, play, etc. His stats are a result of a long career and not dominating at any time. Without a ring to help him, I believe he falls just short. If you look at Thomas' seasons in the 90's, Evans may have one that compares. Thats why I feel he is a lock.

Dewey has arguably the best OVERALL throwing arm the game has ever seen!!!

Plus the offensive numbers that are CURRENTLY at least comparable to your LOCK Frank Thomas!!

Thomas will blow all those numbers away.

Evans was good and deserves the hall of fame but these three had better arms.

Disagree absolutely with the latter two and really never got to see Roberto play enough to make an honest assessment of his OVERALL arm compared to DEWEY.

The STRENGTH of Deweys arm was just as bit as good as the latter two you mentioned, arguabbly even better perhaps.

However, Deweys mechanics and accuracy were unmatched.

My second best OVERALL throwing arm would go to Ichiro Suzuki.

If you want to play just the STRENGTH of throwing arm.....my top two that I have seen would be...........

BO JACKSON & JESSIE BARFIELD

But like I said, nobody had the OVERALL throwing ability of DEWEY.

I don`t think Evans is a HOF`er either...Like someone else said he had too many very average batting seasons...When I think of those Boston teams he is about the 5th offensive option...at the same time he outlasted all of them, his stats are more from longevity... Evans was a very good player, but not a great player...

Jim Rice IMO should be in, even though he had a short career as far as HOF`ers go...Rice was as good as anyone in the late 70`s...

Thomas isn`t done yet and will be very close to 500 HR`s (probably makes it) before he`s done...always a great eye at the play, well over .300 avg...he had many gaudy offensive seasons even before the MLB power surge...I think Thomas gets in, assuming he finishes his career with 3 more good years...

One important thing about Thomas. He will have hit around 500 steroid-free home runs. Looking at his contemporaries, you cannot make the same assumption (Bonds, Canseco, Sosa, McGwire, Bagwell?).
