Not sure how it would translate to the big screen. While it is a pretty incredible achievement, people don't really wanna watch a movie about strenuous exercise for 110 minutes.

yeah that's a fair point. i bet they will do lots of flashes/breaks to moments with his family, scenes from the rescuer's point of view, play up the scenes where he says a shark circled him, when he says he was bitten by stuff during the swim, almost rescued, etc....

If they can make a movie about Tom Hanks talking to a volleyball for 2 hrs they could make a movie about this.

It just shows you how much these over water rescue missions are such a neadle in the hay stack kind of a deal.

The odds are so long it's crazy.
They actually flew over him twice and still never found him.

I wonder how many dead people would have been able to tell you that same story if they could.

Heck they still can't find a jet that fell out the sky over a year ago.

Cover up, of course they found it, or it was never missing

The majority of people being able to do it would have some type of high level athletic background and be aged say 20-40 and also have swimming experience.

Nobody at the RX could do it. Enfuego would probably start trying to debate the shark and just get eaten.

If you have a life jacket though the % would go up a lot as long as the conditions don't get too bad. Just more about pain tolerance at that point I'd think.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH

Akphi would be drunk by the time he falls overboard... odds are he says fuck it and falls sleep thinking he is in his igloo

They probably tracked his route from where the boat tipped over and considering the flow of the sea. It's not like a pool. How many have been out at the beach where we can still touch the bottom and then several waves/ undertow comes that pulls u a little and next thing you know when you get back to sea. You are 50 feet from when you went out.

I hate to call some POTENTIAL BS to the story, but a shark was near him and then swam away? Most shark attacks are the shark just testing the victim to see what it is. That is why you hear of limbs missing and not people being fully eaten. There way of testing is to take a chunk out of your body. It's not like the shark couldn't sense him out there. Who knows but that seems a little Hollywood. Still remarkable. Who's going to be the 1st Rx expert swimmer to come on and say "they have swimmed farther"? Haha

Plenty of surfers swim around sharks. I'm not sure if it's the same as being out in open water though.

I'm scared of sharks.

But in all reality, this story goes to show the power of a person's determination when faced with a life or death situation. This story is simply amazing.

I used to swim 3-4x a week but I'm afraid I'd have to just say "Guess I don't get to see how the NFL season ends" then close my eyes and let nature take its course.

I never thought I'd want to watch a movie about a guy getting his arm stuck between two rocks either.

How many people in the world do you think could do it? Obviously we don't know the full details but just on what we know about 27 miles
