? for Smokey or anyone else re: Rushing stat in TxTech/Mizzou

was looking at the numbers and noticed that Mizzou not only runs the ball better than Texas Tech (big shock) but they also stop the run better

the analytical side of me says that you've gotta stick to the system

the open-minded side questions whether to "blindly" play a system when passing (by design) makes up roughly 86% of Texas Tech's offense

guess it would be no different than passing on a game if the team the system liked had 8 starters suspended for a game ....

just curious for some of your thoughts and whether I'm off-base or not ....

BigDaddy - You make a good point but also remember the success of a system, when researched, usually also doesn't take into account injuries, etc. The line usually reflects these situations.

But the most telling stat from this game is Missouri's ability to defend the pass. They are allowing just 7.0 yps against teams averaging 7.8 yps. They allowed Oklahoma only 8.2 yps last week but Oklahoma averages 9.3 yps.

So, while Missouri can run the ball and TT doesn't stop the run or pass, for that matter, very well, Missouri has been very good against the pass this year.
