Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday reportedly said he won’t stop economic reopening efforts as the state recorded its highest daily increase in coronavirus cases in a single day.

“We’re not shutting down, we’re gonna go forward,” he said at a press conference, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. “We’re gonna continue to protect the most vulnerable.”

The Sunshine State on Tuesday tallied 2,783 new instances of the coronavirus — the fourth time in six days a record number of cases was met, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

But the governor said the higher case count is tied in part to the increased testing in the state.

He also pointed out that younger populations, many of whom don’t exhibit symptoms, have also tested positive.

During his press conference, he showed slides detailing recent outbreaks among construction workers, prisoners and at migrant farmworker camps, according to the Herald Tribune.

While COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in Florida over the past two weeks, the number of daily deaths linked to the disease has kept steady at around 40 since early May, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Very well presented by the governor. However, if you go onto the cesspool known as Twitter, the number of people that are calling him a liar is ridiculous.

Positive antibody tests are considered a new case, and most that test positive in that way never even knew they had it. It is much easier to get an antibody test now than it was a month or two ago, so the rise in cases make sense. There are new hotspots, mostly in rural farming areas.

Raw hospitalization numbers are flat to down statewide, and raw death numbers are the same. People and the media need to freaking relax already. Social distance, wear a mask in public spaces, and quarantine if you test positive. Not hard.

People reason it this way - new cases of course mean new hospitalizations and increased death.

This made sense early on, when tests were only administered to those who were showing symptoms and a lot of whom were really sick.

It isn't the case now. There are still very sick people getting hospitalized, but based on the data, the majority of new cases are not as serious.

Another thing, many get hospitalized and are discharged quickly. Many also end up in ICU, get stabilized, and then end up going home.

You can't stop the runaway train media though. They would have us all in lockdown forever so that we would tune in and grow ratings and their revenue. And many are buying in. LOL.

I feel 100000x more informed when i hear everything straight from our Governor's mouth and NOT the news as things get crazy twisted.

Yes, cases are up. This was expected. He said it had to do with more people getting tested but he was not alarmed. He also said many migrant workers in farming communities picked it up as well.

The median age dropped to 37 but over half the deaths have been from people over 85 or 90 years old.

He also said that hospital vacancy is up and was never that bad. That is why people can have elective surgeries.

Governor didnt seem too concerned and told us to be careful. This is really a county by county thing. People in the panhandle and other areas have hardly had any positive cases. People in my neck of the of the woods have increased cases. Thats why every county has different laws.

I'm gonna keep on being me while going to work, not go out much, and wear masks when i go out. Thats fine.

Just hoping schools can open on time in August where my kids go 5 days a week

I have friends in Florida on the gulf. You know how many cases their county has? 2. F'in 2. One from NY and one was on a cruise ship. Both survived. Meanwhile the beach is packed and the beach bars are full up.

How long is this hoax going to go on? Thank god they have DeSantis.

incredible... right now MSM is running a story that 260 out of 500 Orlando Airport employees have tested positive but the real number is TWO!

since WuFlu began only 132 of >25,000 airport employees have tested positive with another 128 cited as "having connections to airport workers"

2/500 is suddenly 260/500 and it's the #1 trending thread on twitter so everyone will be spouting off this drastically incorrect info

Many think he is lying. Pretty sure that these numbers, even though not perfect, are closer to true than false. Per Orlando.com and the governor's presser:

The amount of COVID-19 ICU hospitalizations is down 43 percent from April 15, according to Gov. DeSantis.

DeSantis also said the amount of people on ventilators who have tested positive for the virus is down 56 percent from April 15.
In Orange County, Dr. Pino said six people were on ventilators and 70 people were hospitalized outside of the intensive care unit.
The median age for people testing positive for COVID-19 is 46.
Eighty-six percent of COVID-19 related deaths in Florida have occurred in the age group of 65 and older, according to DeSantis.
He also said there have been more COVID-19 related fatalities over the age of 90 than under the age of 65.

florida is exposing the hoax. news outlets will lie to the hilt now to keep it going. DeSantis has not wavered and I don't see him ever doing so.
