Guess a few guys here like to talk out there ass....i was expecting someone to ask why i made such a play. first off i was 1 from the button and the table was playing extremely tight as at this point every place was paying like 120.00 more than the 1 before it....Also the BB was gone, he was on post blind and fold and hadn't played a hand since before we got to the final table....meaning i was in this hand against the small blind only who could have any hand, if he raised PF i fold and lose nothing,if he calls i have the chance to beat him on the flop....JUST CALLING means (to him) i have some kind of hand , maybe JT,Ax, as tight as the table was playing at this point there was no reason at all to think i wasnt setting a trap with KK or AA for that matter.....which makes the the move of him calling my reraise even dumber....How could he possibly think i couldnt beat Q8 kicker after i just raised him 130,000 ?????? 9 outs????? you count 9 outs going into the turn????? hell no! you count 9 outs total AFTER the hand played out.....how many outs does he have if say a 2 or an A comes on the turn????? yea your right the same number he had any right to think he had when he called my re-raise.....3! I didnt need to steal blinds at this point i needed to see a flop , make a hand , induce a bluff then go for a big pot. if i dont hit 2 pr and he bets 30,000 then i reraise him maybe 60,000.he raises me again im folding Q4.....as fast as id fold Q8!!!!!!
I think i played this perfectly, got into the exact position i wanted to get into, then got unbelievably unlucky to lose the hand......if Matt or Bozzi want to come in and tell me different then ill accept it.....as for the rest of you guys this made 5 straight sub 30 plc finishes in a row on weeknights.with a 2nd and and a 7th to show for it. i must be doing something right.
OK, you didn't mention in your first post that the bb is on autofold. I now understand your reasoning for just calling rather then raising pf and seeing a flop in position without committing a substantial portion of your stack (although I hate the play if the BB is not on autofold). Personally I prefer to still try a steal raise and see if I can take it down preflop, if I get called then I still get to see a flop and maybe hit.
I also completely agree with your raise on the flop and in no way criticized your flop play. I didn't say your opponent was correct to call either, if he was a good player he would of probably found a better spot to get all of his money in, and I never said that it was correct for him to call on a draw because he had X number of outs. What I was implying is that this is not a huge beat so get over it. (You weren't 2,3 or even 4 outed here). This is in the category of beats that happen all the time when all the money goes in on the flop and one player is reverse dominated and goes on to outdraw. BIG DEAL!!!
Also, please stop assuming that your opponents are all thinking players who are going to put you on AA or KK when you just limp pf when the blinds are big. Even the players who make it deep in these tournaments often suck, and as you can see, many of them are unable to get away from top pair no kicker even when the action should show them that there is a great chance they are beat.
You want a real beat, here is one from the final table last night in a Party $20 5 table tournament. We were 8 handed, I was third in chips with T13,000 and had the villain slightly covered. Blinds were 600-1200
Preflop: Villain calls, I call with KTs ( I would of raised if it was folded to me), button calls, blinds call. Pot = T6000
Flop: ATT no suits, checked to me, I bet T2000, all fold except villain calls. Pot = T10,000
Turn: 6, check, I bet T5000, villain calls.
River J, check, I bet my last T5000, villain calls and takes it down with KQ.
