I am sick of all the zombie bullshit. Same shit every time. Some idiot walks into a room and sees someone on the floor eating another human being. They turn around to reveal they're a FUCKING zombie. The zombie then proceeds to attack the person. Fuck this shit.

Trust me I gave it a try. They need to end the main show and this one should be canceled.

The game that I played on the PS3 a few years ago was good however so I recommend that.

Yes, the Walking Dead is about "Zombies". But it's much more than that.

It's about humanity. And how the human race deals with crisis and survival. How some good people turn savage and crazy when their world is turned upside down.

I don't like the Walking Dead for the zombies and blood and guts. I'm interested in the story line and the characters.

Looks like I am the minority here but I was not a big fan of the first episode. Didnt care much for the characters, maybe they will grow on me as the season continues.
I am still waiting for the prequel to the walking dead. Shane and Rick cop show, no zombies or I mean "walkers" :103631605

I just watched the first episode. Couple problems with it that are glaring to me.

No way in hell that the kid in the church doesnt beg for police to go back to the church and check things out.

No way inhell the parents dont go to the police after they visit the church. Not only go to the police.. but in a major fucking hurry.

The parents reaction to seeing the drug dealing kid keep getting up is ridiculous. They look more like they are witnessing open heart surgery up close rather than a supernatural nightmare. Nobody watches what should be a dead person keep standing up and just appear to be repulsed. That is a major... get me the F outta here moment and the actors just totally missed it

Agree 100%. The original is not really about zombies anymore. Anyone who has survived this long unless they have been cooped up in a place like Alexandria knows how to handle the zombies. It's the living they have to worry about now. That's what makes the show great now. As for the new show I liked the first 2 episodes. It's interesting seeing how all this developed and got to where they were when Rick woke up in the hospital.

For me, WD is similar to the show Jericho that was on for 2 seasons a few years ago. It's amazing how people will turn against each other when survival is all that matters.

Agree with your last paragraph but the kid is a drug addict and the church was his "home" so to speak. At that time he really didn't know whether what he saw was real or he imagined it because of the drugs. Same with parents. They aren't going to involve the police when it comes to their drug addicted son.

Well, the druggie kid (Nick) *did* mention the church (more or less) to police/doctors/authorities --- and their reaction was entirely rational. Instead of saying "Holy shit, you just described the early stages of an end-of-world zombie outbreak! Quick, let's call Homeland Security!".........they said "So we've got a strung-out junkie who just smacked his head in a car accident.......he probably needs to sleep for a few days."

Also, need to remember --- none of these people have actually seen zombies before (in the Walking Dead universe, I'm not even sure if zombie stories/movies even exist). There's a big leap between:

1) Wow, that dude is fucked up......is he drunk, is he drugged? Does he have the flu?
2) Wow, that dude is fucked up......might as well grab my shovel and bash his head open. When I get arrested for murder, I'll just use the zombie defense.

Great example --- read some stories about bath-salts. Some of those people go crazy, and behave like violent zombies.......so why aren't average citizens killing them, just to be safe?

That being said --- now that many of the major characters have generally figured out the problem.......why can't they clearly explain the situation to other friends, family members, etc? Instead, every conversation is intentionally vague.

Well, I was thinking more in lines that the parents see a bath of blood on the floor of the church and decide to report it as most responsible adults would. I cannot imagine any scenario where someone sees a giant pool of blood and then just says "something bad happened here". No shit something bad happened there !!! I wasn't suggesting they would think of zombies... but maybe they could think of any other reason in the world that might generate blood on the floor of a church and then call the cops. No way anyone walks outta there and decides to keep that to themselves. shit.. that might even be considered accessory if it was found to be a murder later on. Who says the victim isn't alive in a closet or a hidden room somewhere and they just walked out?? Dayum

This is an important point to remember. It's called "genre blindness". Zombie lore doesn't exist in TWD universe.

There's a very simple explanation for that, the writers suck. Same horrible shit writing that plauges the other zombie show.

Thought this episode was solid. Can't wait to see what the military does with them.

This show is great. Quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I have a feeling that something catastrophic is going to happen when the military goes in. There has to be a trigger for mass infection and I am thinking this will be it.

Travis appears to be this week's Internet winner of Annoying/Hated WD Character. Maybe he doesn't understand the full extent of the virus/infection (at this point, none of the characters are 100% up-to-speed) --- but he certainly knows that people are becoming violent, uncontrollable killers............and yet, after observing his neighbor eat a friggin dog, he's like "Hey buddy, let's hug it out. We'll get you some help."

I can understand if he's still hesitant to kill people/zombies (especially his neighbors) --- but you'd think he'd at least try to keep his distance.......and just in case, keep a weapon at his side.

To be fair:

1) Even in the regular WD, there are still characters who are reluctant to kill people/zombies --- not every person can flip that emotional "switch", and become a killer. Even in WWI and WWII, many soldiers never fired a shot (or they'd fire, but purposely miss).
2) Even in the regular WD, there are characters hoping for a cure --- Herschel kept all those zombies in his barn, and the Governor kept his daughter. So I don't understand why so many people are pissing on Travis.......we're only days into the outbreak, so it's entirely reasonable for Travis to think hospitals/government can provide a cure.
3) Speaking of hospitals/government/military --- obviously, that's going to be a big theme in FTWD. You've got Travis ("Hooray, the cavalry is here!"), and you've got Daniel (as he sees the soldiers, "It's already too late.").........I think that's why some people have been (and will be) slow to react --- they've been domesticated, they've been dumbed-down.......when they see danger, their first instinct is "No big deal, I'm sure the government/military will save the day. Why should I kill that zombie in my driveway, when I've got the police to protect me?"

Of course, what we're going to see:

A) When the government/military is overwhelmed --- what happens then? Who makes the transition to self-reliance, and who keeps waiting for Superman?
B) To borrow from Frank Turner, "the government will only work for its own benefit".......as the situation erodes, average citizens will be deemed expendable & liabilities.

Yep --- at this point, it appears as though the government/military is ahead-of-the-curve. They're already deploying to neighborhoods, they're already implementing some level of quarantine/safety measures. They clearly understand there is a big fucking problem (for all we know, they're responsible for unleashing the big fucking problem).

Considering the zombies are slow, stupid.........apparently unable to navigate doors & fences.........and considering we've already seen soldiers aim for the head (which indicates a basic understanding of zombie biology) --- how do the zombies overrun the military? There has to be a major fuck-up, allowing the outbreak to spread exponentially.

I'm pretty sure everyone is already infected, because of his drug dealer friend that turned after he killed him without being bitten.
