Ok Guys. Got the 1st Pick in a 10 team league, but this league is a little different with 6pt for TD passes instead of usual 4pts...Does that mean Manning?

Also pts are as follows= 1 pt per reception(LT?), 1pt=10yds rec and rush (pretty normal) 1pt= 40yds passing

I would still go with Peyton at #1. Seems to me after Peyton and Duante, it drops off a bit at qb. you can probably grab a corey dillon or someone with your 2nd round pick.

LT is awesome but will get hurt and they may relieve him sometimes with Sproles, who they are high on.

TV,

thanks for the reply. I'm pretty high on Peyton as well. Being that TD passes are 6pts which is 50% higher than the usual 4pts. I'm thinking of working out a deal with the 3rd pick so he can get LT and I'll pick up Peyton with the 3rd and possibly move up in the 2nd round and once more in a later round. Still a few weeks before the draft though

any more input?:toast:

Manning would be huge in a 6 point FF league. A down year is 30 TD's.

Might as well go with Manning. 6 pts per TD from Manning is a solid foundation for anyone in a 10 team league. And with only 10 teams you'd still be able to get a quality RB with your 2nd and 3rd round picks.

Thanks Guys
I feel that quality RBs will be there for me in the 2nd and 3rd: Dillon, Martin, Barber, Brown

FWIW, the yards per passing sort of balances out the extra points for TD's. In a lot of leagues , you see the 1pt=10 yards run/rec and 1pt=20 yards passing, and not the 1pt=40 yards, so there's that to consider.

Also, I never like to take a QB in the 1st round. The value that you pass up at RB is extremely difficult to make up later. In other words, the dropoff at RB is steeper that the dropoff at QB. I would rather have LT and the #6 or #7 QB off the board than Manning and someone who would go #18 overall, and the #13-#16 RB off the board, like a Julius Jones, Rudi Johnson, Tatum Bell or Lamont Jordan. Check out www.footballguys.com/05vbdrevisited.htm for a bunch of articles regarding this and the theory behind Value Based Drafting

Also, the year after Marino threw 48 TD's, he threw 30. I would be stunned if Manning throws up another 40+ TD season. The league had a whole offseason to see how New England clamps down on that Indy offense, and the NFL is nothing if not a copycat league.

LB,

I appreciate the info man. Yeah I guess that does even it out a bit on the yardage. I just have never liked the first pick in the draft and I feel that if I can get some value from trading down a couple of places then I should. I was offered a nice package to take the 3rd pick for my 1st, and then switch again in the 2nd round and 4th round (18th for my 20th and 38th for my 40th pick). So its looking like if I do that he'll take LT, 2nd pick will take Holmes or Alexander and I'll have who I wanted to begin with (Manning) at the 3rd pick and get some value as well.
