This may be the single dumbest comment I've ever read on this forum.
Throwing a half of a football game for your team to purposefully be losing at HT won't impact your draft stock? Dude, it's a federal offense. No team is going to draft you knowing full well you played shitty to make some money gambling.
Are you actually serious?
A lot of soon to be multi-millionaire college football players have proven their short-sightedness. They have no concept of the value of their future worth if they just stay clean. So he devalues himself and the opportunity to make tens of millions of dollars (by potentially being drafted lower) by throwing a half? In return, he gets half of $5k. Only Jameis Winston would be that stupid. Anybody else and I wouldn't believe it.
This is the same idiot who said "Tajh Boyd owes over $80,000 in unpaid gambling debts" last year.
He has zero credibility.
Doesn’t Winston turn out to be the most ignorant and pathetic we have ever seen? His Coach as well. Backing a kid at first is one thing….. but this guy looks like a total moron by now.
P.S. Any grown man who answers to the name "Jimbo" should be living off the grid picking his nuts full time!
I went back and looked at the play by play.....
Louisville led 21-0 with 2:03 left in the first half.
Winston up until that point was approx....
6-16 (38%) for 49 yards 0 TD's and 2 INT's
Whoa, you are thinking way to logically for this forum man, better get on board with the rest of these conspiracy theorists. Guess the defense was a part of this fix too, along with an offensive line that couldn't block for shit. Maybe they split the $2750 22 ways....:neenee:Just one thing that doesn't add up for me, if he had some brains (some might argue that's a big IF though):
Why would you suck THAT bad? The 1st half bet was Louisville +1, as a QB he pretty much can make sure they don't score on offense. Even if you were worried about a defensive score, there is absolutely no need to let the score get to 0-14 or even 0-21. You're down 0-7 and your bet is pretty much golden because you won't go for 2 (or if Jimbo called a 2pts conv., you just mess up that play). Once it's 0-14 and you were him, you should keep it at a 7-14pts margin at least to not make the comeback any harder than necessary.
Why risk your chances to go to the BCS playoffs (esp. because he has no influence on FSUs defensive performance in the 2nd half, so even if his offense scored a TD on every drive, it's not a sure thing they could come back from a 21pts deficit in the 2nd half) or risk hurting your draft stock significantly by playing bad on purpose for longer than you need to, which could easily cost you 6- or 7-figures on draft day?
