Just McIrish puttering around again but I'd like to try this for at least a week. The only downside is it takes up space. Most that post here already know to look back a few pages for what you are looking for so maybe we can learn to live with this, if not one button away from doing away with them again. Here's why I do want to try it - information. I will start these on Sunday nights and we can track the line movement on each game as well as everything else. I will start with the opener and anyone here can update it throughout the week on what they know. Also it can be used for injury information. Since Fish and I live in Tampa we will try and put pertinent stuff in that thread as the week goes on. Other people who are more familiar with another team can participate in that thread. Let's organize what we are doing and provide even more information to each other. We can even use it for last second weather information.

I think it's worth a try. You sign on here Sunday thinking to bet the Bronco game and you want to see if Plummer is playing come right to this thread, good place to start instead of digging through 5 pages of informaton. It will only be as good as those who will contribute to it. I had a guy tell me he would pipe in now and then but he didn't want to start a new thread just for 2 sentences about the San Diego game, maybe it will get some lurkers to post as well. We can even use it as game threads if anyone is here during the game, and used to bitch and analyze what happened afterwards. We'll see how it goes. Not taking a damn thing away, we still want guys to post their own cards and all that. Maybe if they feel strongly on a game they will add it to the official game thread as well. At the end of the week I will either continue it or drop it, let me know if you all like it or find it to be of no use. Thanks!

McIrish,

Tried something like this last year and it didn't last. Not saying it won't work now, just letting you know what happened last season.

My opinion - too may people posting just picks and not enough of them posting information.

I think I remember that too Lou, wasn't it the Gold Sheet thing? I believe on that we just let the thread go though instead of keeping them up top. Anyway as I said let's try it one week at least. I worked for myself and as a result I like ideas that cost us nothing, LOL. You aren't married to it if it ends up not being worthwhile.

Thanks all you guys for the input. I am flexible on if we keep it or not. Less work for me if we don't.

I did something like this too last year, and it didn't last, but while I did it there was some nice exchange. Of course, I didn't have the benefit of making sure all posts stayed at the top.

Maybe adding another forum where that matchups were talked about would be good, and keep that separate from the "picks" area.

I think its a great idea - because despite the fact that people are posting too many picks I do feel that there is enough information posted also to make informed decisions, it just gets lost in everyones 10,000 threads.

A discussion for each game is probably the way it should be - the thing that I see possibly screwing it up is when people start boasting and messing around, but as with any thread this is the risk...

Pat great Idea IMO. its worth a try!

On sunday morning someone that needs quick info can find it fast and not have to wade thru the various sports posts and drama posts and the occasional flame post to find valid important info

Patty Mac - I like it. An idea to improve each thread and serve to bump them up later in the week would be to add two polls for side and total to see who the RX picks. Maybe on Friday. More work however. Thanks.

If there was a way that these threads could be 'pinned' (some other message boards have this feature) by the administrators of this site, then Pat's plan will prove to be a great idea.

Pat,

Since we all love the idea what about asking the general(i think he is the admin here??) if they can start a seperate catagory so it won't be such a pain and then maybe we can keep it going for the whole season???

i would rather each person only post there one POW just like they do in the RX college section, it is much easier to track who is good, and go with and who is bad, so you can fade them

1. It is a great idea. This is the best way to get info in a quick and ez manner. Maybe this should have its own 'major' forum separate from NFL&CFL Forum.
2. I also agree w/ BigLou, it won't last as too many just post picks and too many want their own threads w/ 100 unit plays, lock winners, etc.
3. It should stress info (key injs, new st QB, team psychology, etc.) more than line moves as everybody can ezily track line moves elsewhere.

Good luck.
