Downtown Boston is just as dead.

Wait 'till you see the demons our policymakers unleashed when the businesses who occupy all those business area towers decide that they no longer need to bring their employees into downtown.

Wait 'till the service businesses no longer have enough people to service.

Wait 'till the employees who live in the high rent district in or proximal to the cities find out that they can work from home and no longer need to live near their downtown (used to be) offices.

And as the cities fade into obsolescence what do they look like twenty years from now?

What will happen to their tax base?

These are thoughts pretty much unthinkable two months ago. Not so unthinkable now.

Thank you policymakers. Was the tradeoff worth it. I mean how many people were actually saved by these shutdown policies that wouldn't have been saved without the shutdowns? Do you really think the shutdowns helped the most vulnerable in the nursing homes? I don't.

Miami is nothing like this - we may be locked down but it's not dead - people are out walking - exercising - shoping in the storest that are open - doing construction - it's slow but it's not ghost town - the Northeast is dead set on seeing economic paralysis

Which will eventuate in economic collapse. Can't be sure what this landscape looks like when the self destruction settles. But I can assure you that a lot of people are gonna get hurt. Very possibly the society itself.

'Wait 'till you see the demons our policymakers unleashed when the businesses who occupy all those business area towers decide that they no longer need to bring their employees into downtown.'

this sentiment is shared by others in my neck of the woods. The Greater Toronto Housing bubble was on a cliff, it just needed a push

WHO pays for all this?

higher estate taxes? increased taxes on capital gains? go after real estate ? higher corp taxes? middles class is broke , politcal suicide.

obvously with new compliance laws running a business will have increased costs. Big corps will manage, of course, ....small businesses?

BUT we have health care guys running the show, all should be okay....

Fauci is not a health care worker, he hasn't seen a patient in 25 years. he is a tool of the pope, a tool of chi-coms and a tool of bill gates

As much as I'm about resuming our lives, and as much as I love the city, I'm not going there until they have this thing more controlled

I'll go anywhere, except epicenters

This...My brother works for the government in DC. Says they get more work done from working at home. No off site meetings to attend which takes up 2 hours of travel within the city.

Good...I've been travelling to the city for work about every month over the past couple of years...place is a beating. a week at a time is too much. I'll quit paying taxes if cumo tries to make Texas bail him out.
