Just read this Yahoo headline about 15 times thinking they must have made some mistake. Was using the wrong meaning of "might" in my head. Then I felt stupid.

"Technological might of China showcased"

It's taken me a long time to figure out why this thread was posted...

Because I've been writing about the Melbourne Cup (Australian horse racing) all day and my girlfriend is taking a nap. Pretty much going out of my mind I suppose. Moved it to the RR. Probably belongs down here.

China's Technological Might Is Showcased would be a better phrasing. In your example Might is the subject and Showcased is the verb. In my example China is the subject and Is is the the verb. I think my rules of grammar are correct. Not questioning yours as much as questioning my own.

In 10th grade English Class many many years ago, our teacher made us diagram "The Twelve Days Of Christmas". It was Ungodly.
