I needed a three week break from this sport as I never recovered from a disasterous weekend, afterwards going 1-1 and losing a bit coin each day. I still need to be more cautious, but thanks to hockey and american football, I have some kind of confidence.
2 plays for Saturday.
English Premiership: Wigan Athletic vs. Manchester City
Wigan have been a bit unlucky with their start to the Premiership. Only collecting 5 points, the team has faced opponents such as Manchester United, Portsmouth, and Blackburn when the teams have been on a good run. They are considered to be the most physical football team in the Premiership despite their recent struggles.
Wigan showed England that they can compete in the top flight by having a strong season last year and it began with a hot start. Over the summer, the team has strengthened their squad to make another strong run in the league but they just haven't found that spark.
Manchester City is the Jekyll and Hyde of the Premiership; They can perform really well at home and then lack any kind of confidence on the road. They were able to pick up a home draw against Sheffield but that is far from impressive considering that the Sheffield club is forecasted to be relegated this year. They did, however, scrap up a point at Everton when the Toffees were losing their form.
Wigan had a good week of practice following the United loss. Boss Paul Jewel has claimed that his side is brimming with confidence and they look to make amends for their unfortunate luck in the previous matches with a decent result on Manchester City. I've wagered on Wigan FC pk -147 to win 4 units because the worst result I can see for myself in this match is a draw. I doubt City will be able to pick up 3 points at Wigan when the home side is better in talent and still have good morale.
German Bundesliga: VfL Wolfsburg v VfB Stuttgart
Wolfsburg lay 15th in the German league with an impressive home win against Bayern Munich that has been their only bright spot. Last weekend, they lost 3-1 to a strong home team in Borussia M'gladbach after it seemed like they had control for most of the game. The Wolves have only scored 4 goals in the season so far and rank as worst in the league with that statistic. They are starting to feel the pressure of the relegation zone after losing 3 of their last 4 matches.
Stuttgart is coming off an impressive 3-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. They are considered the best road team so far in the Bundesliga, and the team is brimming with confidence. For some reason, Stuttgart don't have the same quality at home as they do away and you can see that so far in their league results. What stands out to me though is their away win against top German club Werder Bremen.
In this matchup, I see two teams with different mentalities right now. Wolfsburg are desperate for points with the relegation zone looming near them, and I see a Stuttgart team with great away form looking to collect 3 points to move up. VFB have a good away history with Wolfsburg too, hopefully solidifying this play. I am aware of Wolfsburg's win against Bayern, but judging by their current form and last year's home record, I can't back this team. Stuttgart pk +101 for 3 units has great value and I pounced on it.
Good Luck guys. I should have said Saturday the 21st. oops.
