Open question. Why should I give a fuck who is the President of France?
It's not like Macron is going to have any affect on my life.
And would it be any different if Le Pen had won?

I didn't follow the election but from the opinions of everyone here
it was an outsider who appears to be a dork (who marries a woman that's
25 years older than you unless she's 90, really rich and on a ventilator?)
and a woman who appears to be a Merkel clone.

It reminds me of our 2008 election, 2 bad choices.

Probably not going to effect life in US of A anytime soon. But anytime you get a candidate that anti-establishment it is interesting to see what the fallout might be (and obviously easier to analyze from afar if possible negative ramifications from that fallout don't really effect you) And then it was just kinda interesting to see if things would come in 3's...Brexit, Trump, Le Pen but France wasn't quite ready for that.

Le Pen very skeptical of flooding France with 3rd worlders and if France woke up to that reality then it is likely others would follow suit, possibly in short order. The type of seismic change that parts of Europe probably need to reverse course.

Also, the OP is from England. So he probably knows he cares more than you, but he was just posting it because it is newsworthy.

I don't see what effect it will have on beets. Canada elected an Obama
clone and it hasn't had any effect on us. 99% of beets posts is newsworthy
so it wasn't directed at him. Just curious if anyone really cared.

Again, from what I read the leaving euro/EU stuff was just a bridge too far for a lot of on the fence voters. This would cause bank runs, new currency would erode savings, etc

People might want change, but they don't necessarily want the short-term pain that comes with it.

As is very common in our own backyard.

edit: I typed that before I read that last post so it wasn't in response to the above post.

Well, Macron is pretty much textbook establishment/continue current policies so I don't think there will be much fallout from him winning.

He's more of the same, besides the creepy teacher becomes wife thing.

Because Islam is well on their way towards conquering Europe...and after that happens, guess which big country/continent will be squarely in their crosshairs? Not that we aren't already. I'd just prefer not to let them establish another military base.

This was a good chance to push back and get someone in their highest office who wanted to reject these vermin and probably would have offered us some much needed assistance down the road. The US isn't going to be able to get rid of this problem on our own...at least not without significant loss of blood and treasure. Now? We have an abject loser and surrender artist over there who will probably just get in our way more than he'll help. He even said the Frogs should prepare to have terrorism be a part of their everyday lives. Wow...awesome leadership and strength!

I really can't understand wtf the French were thinking. "Oui, please continue to bomb us, shoot us, stab us, drive trucks over us, execute hostages in concert halls...we will just hope zee problem goes away..."

Le Pen was not a Merkel clone at all...quite the opposite, in fact.

I'm with you, not really too concerned about it

I also agree on SB, no intent to insult him either.

His "hello" thread is an all-time classic

Well JD I think you're mildly exaggerating about Islam taking over Europe.

That being said they are a methodical group but they lack the resources
to actually conquer anything much less Europe. They've been at this since
1095. That's 922 years to get where the are today. That's a minuscule
achievement considering how long they've been at it.

As for Le Pen not being a Merkel clone, she appeared to change her stances
like most people change their drawers. Merkel hasn't been steadfast in her
beliefs either.

Anyway, I'll stick with my original statement, who cares. We had the biggest
Muslim sympathizer to ever walk the face of the earth and we survived, I'm
thinking France and Europe will also.
