WASHINGTON, July 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Senator John Kerry, the US Democratic party's presumptive presidential nominee, received a six-point boost after choosing North Carolina Senator John Edwardsas his running mate.

A USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup poll published Tuesday found that the Edwards choice has been well-received by US voters nationwide and gives the two Democrats a lead over the Bush-Cheney campaign of 50 percent against 45 percent. Independent candidate Ralph Nader receives two percent of support in the poll.

Bush led Kerry by a single point in a poll three weeks ago before Kerry's choice of running mate was announced.

The national survey was taken Thursday through Sunday with a margin of error set at plus or minus four percentage points.

Dead cat bounce, Edwards will not pull one state. Kerry beat Edwards in the south, that's a real bad sign. Americans can't stand liberals and they hate trial lawyers even more.

Funny how the partisan media is portraying him as this super bright, quick on his feet trial lawyer. Yeh, like that will work. Anybody who says this eunich debate in the demi primaries and when he was Harball with Chris Matthews saw nothing but a silly little boy who thinks he's still cute.

Sure wasn't a bounce in North Carolina, the people who know Edwards best. Still 15 points down in a USA Today poll released yesterday.

I usually stay out of these polling arguments but I gotta say I don't think any of them at this point are that important. For every one that Dems find that looks favorable, the Repubs have one.

IMO, what will really be important is how polling goes in swing states before election.

For instance, here in Georgia, it will go overwhelmingly for Bush. Whether it's 70% or 60% don't really matter. Put it in the column for Bush.

What's happening in swing states like Florida is what's important. Overall national poll is useless.

Spot on post! If any one candidate wins the 6 or so swing states by only 00.5% then the lock states % are inconsequential.

IMVHO Oh, Pa, & Fl are the 3 key states. The winner of 2 out of those 3 wins the election.

Take note of all the democratic candidates that lose their own state ie Gore losing Tennesee and Clintoon losing Ark. It also looks like Edwards will lose North Carolina. The people know how bad they were for their state and damn sure know they have no business being President or VP.

If the VP choice can't bring his/her own state over to the ticket then what was Kerry thinking? This is why I am very disapponted with the Edwards pick

as I've said elsewhere Kerry should have picked a popular dem from a swing state.
