i mean look us ecu backers obviously figured we had a decent shot of getting the cover there.. but even if they had no intention of kicking the fg. so you don't wanna run it up the middle on 3rd down then kick the fg. you could have run backwards on 3rd down to around midfield killing nearly all of the clock by then punting the ball.

I don't know about showing it, but I've been scratching it trying to figure out Ruffin's ability to coach. I'm glad I stayed the hell away, but that was just plain awful. Pooch punt it if you don't have the stones to kick the FG, that way they're starting inside the 10 with no timeouts and no time. My condolences to the ECU players tonight.

i mean in terms of not covering is a whole nother thing. i've seen in this situation teams not want to kick the fg because of the chance of it being blocked going the other way and i mean chip shots i've lost 1 or 2 that way one with the cowboys a couple years ago. but they didn't lose outright. never have a seen a debacle like this i'm young so maybe there has been one but i can't imagine anything worse than losing outright liek they did tonight

I was monitoring this on my phone on the score app. I figured that ECU would kick a FG (getting a push on +7 which would have sucked) or punt. When I saw that UCF had the ball with time left I knew that ECU did something monumentally stupid. I actually was able to hear the UCF radio broadcast of the last possession and the broadcasters were too polite to call the ECU coaching staff stupid.

I can't remember a game ending like this. Unreal.

I'm just guessing here but ECU had an extra point blocked in the 1st Q so I'm guessing they were afraid of that happening again on a FG there. But yes, that was the worst I have ever seen a team try to run out the clock. How you lose 20 yards and barely run any clock on 4th down is idiotic to say the least.
