Early Monday Hoop Plays

Have already made two plays for Monday...

Rice -8 over fresno st....both teams coming off bracket buster games on saturday. Rice came back from a pretty big early deficit to get a quality win over a very good UL-Laffayette team while Fresno lost at tough game at home to ETSU...In that game, Fresno's top 5 players played a combine 187 minutes of the 200 possible -- that stat alone tells you how little depth they have with the recent suspensions. That should play a big part in this one as Rice appears to have regained some of that home swagger they had earlier in the season with big wins over nevada and ULL. Even if Rice doesn't bring their A game, I think they get a double-digit win.

UTEP -7 over hawaii...similar situation with hawaii coming off a hard fought national tv game with S. Illinois and now turn around on short notice to play a rested UTEP team (who did not play Saturday). UTEP is coming off a mediocre performance against san jose st. in which they were trailing at the half only to rally in the second to get a 13 point win (laying 17 1/2). UTEP is well aware of that Hawaii just gave S. Illinois all they can handle and with this being UTEP's final home game of the season and them needing every game from here on out to get an at-large, I think they will come out breathing fire. Hawaii may show some grit in this one, but they I don't think they will be able to match the intensity of the Miners -- Miners by double-digits.

Possible adds include

villanova +7 1/2 @ Syracuse....the orange just aren't a very good team.

elon +13 1/2 @ G. Southern...elon has been good to me this year and i think they keep it well within this number.

Jaypaw -- agree totally with laying off 'Nova - just too easy for this one to go either way.

Co-Cap -- thanks, I am REALLY looking forward to any insight you can provide on the hawaii/utep game -- i really like utep here to pound an emotionally drained rainbow squad.

jimmymo, I have been falling behind on Hawaii info, but I think that Hawaii's Big Guy Sr Center Haims Shimonovich was reported to have flown up to play in this game against Utep. If this is so, it will be a huge boast for moral and confidence for the Warriors. I am not sure if this is so yet, as I am waiting for accurrate info from my friend who works for the news station here. If he is playing, I am taking the points. GL to you and Aloha ..

Hey Co-Cap -- thx for the insight -- I just read on the Honolulu Sun's website that he has rejoined the team and is expected to try and play tonight -- reports are that the knee was still stiff in practice yesterday and he is quoted as saying he is not sure how much he will be able to contribute....this info has me second guessing...I got this one very early yesterday at -7 and it is now looking to move to 8 1/2...if it hits 9, I may hedge and try for a middle...good luck my man and thanks again for the heads up
