I've got to believe this is JoePa's final year. This will be a "Win one for the old man" game.
If common opponents mean anything, Wisconsin should have beat Ohio State at Camp Randall on a Saturday night. The next Saturday night, they had no clue what to do against the Nittany Lions. Absolutely were never in the game.

People will bring the Wisconsin games up, but imo Wisky's season ended when they lost to OSU on that last minute run by Pryor. It made them 0-2 in conf. play with two heartbreaking losses. They've played much, much worse since that loss getting blown out twice. Sometimes a loss can just devastate a team and they are never the same the rest of the year.

The wrong team is favored here. Of course vegas knows they can still get plenty of joe public action on PSU especially only at 2.5.... OSU will win this game.

i disagree. Vegas knows the average joe is always looking for a strong home dog. On a neutral field penn state would be minus 7 and if penn state was at home 8.5. Penn state makes a statement here as joe p has had this game circled since week one. Penn state by 2 touchdown, book it

yeah, what about if you compare both teams when they played purdue?

As probably the biggest OSU homer on this board. I believe this game is an Under play or no play.

I was intially on the Buckeyes, but Penn State's offensive line (i believe) is going to be able to control the LOS against OSU's front 4. This doesn't guarantee a victory, but I think PSU has all the parts in play on the offensive side of the ball to win the game.

As for OSU, it really boils down to the passing game. Unless TP throws the ball at least 20 times or Beanie runs for 150+, OSU will struggle to win the game. Tressel has to allow Pryor to throw the ball or OSU will be seeing 8 man fronts. Tressel is yet to allow TP to open things up. However, this maybe the game he does just that.

Have you seen Royster play? Looks every bit as good as Beanie and man does he have a burst. I've seen Penn St. play 3 times this year and I was very impressed with him.

When I look at this game there is not one area on offense where Ohio St. is better than the Lions. They have a better defense but not by much. I haven't put anything on the game but I think PSU covers. I think people are putting too much into the Spartan melt down last week. Ohio St. will still be suspect to elite teams IMO not to mention good spread offenses.

It will be a slug fest until the 2nd half and in the 4th quarter the Lions offense pulls away.

Maybe I'm wrong but either way this will be a great game!

Comparing Royster to Beanie is comical....Beanie is by far (when healthy) the best RB in the country....that will be reflected when he is a top 15 pick coming out a year early.

Royster is a nice player, no doubt about that...but he hasn't faced a defense romotely close to the caliber of Ohio St's. Remember, Beanie was the only Buckeye who actually looked as if he belonged against LSU last year....and that was a MONSTER defense.

I can't believe I just read someone say Royster looks every bit as good as Chris Wells, the top back in the nation and a top 10 pick in the next nfl draft. Royster might not even go as high as Tony Hunt did.

I'm glad someone mentioned that Ohio St absolutely drilled Penn St last year on the road, and there isn't too many changes to the rosters. Yes, I would agree Clark is a huge upgrade to Morelli, but Pryor is also an upgrade to Boeckman, and he just picked apart the Penn St defense last year. Dan Connor is also gone, and he was PSU's best defensive player last year. Penn St is better than last year overall obviously, but I don't think it's by as much as people believe. I could really see Ohio St running away with this game, although Tressell would be the reason they might. He's a great coach, but his vanilla offense will usually tone down the blowouts.

Top 15, the only way he isn't top 5, is if all the teams at top have RBs already in place.

The OSU homers are out in full force in this thread....I agree Wells is the better running back and will be the better pro..but this year...Royster has been just as good if not better. You can blame his injury if you want but it doesnt change the results. Its always easy to spot OSU homers all across the web...they use words and phrases like..."by far the best" and "remotely close to OSU" and "tops in the country." I'd recommend not reading another word of OTK's drivel. Sheesh..you'd think you could get away from that kind of crap on a handicapping board....

As an OSU fan, I have to agree with you. This board turns into scout.com too often.

i posted this in another thread but i figured that i would put it in here as well:

I think the bucks are so geared up for this game they win."

Penn State has also had a tough time playing AT wisconsin as well, we all saw how that turned out:toast:

i think psu wins here, but i wouldnt put money on it, should be a great game to enjoy without the "action"

however, i will still post my thoughts on this game:

lets look at who each team has played and beaten (outside of the usc trashing for ohio state)

for ohio state:
vs Youngstown St - 43-0
vs Ohio - 26-14
vs Troy - 28-10
vs Minnesota -34-21
@ Wisconsin - 20-17 (close game until the end that could have gone either way)
vs Purdue - 16-3 (ohio state did not score an offensive TD)
@ Mich St - 43-7 (best game of the year by osu by far)

for Penn State:
vs Coastal Carolina - 66-10
vs Oregon State - 45-14
@ Syracuse - 55-13
vs Temple - 45-3
vs Illinois - 38-24
@ Purdue - 20-6
@ Wisconsin - 48-7
vs Michigan - 46-17

If i was going to cap this game and make myself bet on it i would look at a few things, compare the out of conference games and what each team did to their opponents (edge - PSU), look at the head to head matchups and see what each team did to their opponents (edge PSU)

if someone put a gun to my head and said, take a side and your laying action on it, i would drop the fact that i am a penn state homer and think about the game and the information that both teams have given me so far this season....

and i will still go with my lions, i just feel they are a very, very good and balanced football team and as long as they can "contain" pryor, beanie and the ground game, they will win this game without a doubt in my mind, penn state is going to make pryor beat them through the air and if you have watched this kid throw the ball this season you will see that will not be accomplished, the kid is going to be spectacular in time but he is still a freshman and if any coach in the country knows this kids strengths and weaknesses it is psu d-coor Tom bradley who put in as much time as anyone recruiting this kid

if you want my advice i would say not to bet on it and just sit back and enjoy a great college football game, if you want me to shut up and pick a side.... i would tell you to take psu

lets hope i'm right! :103631605
