Heerenveen lost a couple of key players during the off-season and their topscorer from last season, Alves, will not play in this game. Willem II was terrible last year, but I think that they will do better this season.

Typical friday night game in the dutch league. Both teams had some scoring-chances but they failed to find the net. Heerenveen lacks scoring power without Alves and Nillson.

Very public play, but I love. AZ has a very talented squad. They lost two important players during the off-season, Tim De Cler was sold to Feyenoord, Sebastien Pocognoli will take his place as left-back. Veteran-striker Shota Arveladze left the club, Brazilian Ari will take his place. Ari impressed me in AZ's last friendly against Inter and he fits in nicely in the AZ-system. Louis van Gaal has expressed his desire to start the season in style with a big win. AZ wants to win this match to put some pressure on the competition (Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord). Newly promoted VVV will struggle tonight. They are one of, if not, the weakest team in the league. AZ should be able to cover this handicap.

I will look at the rest of the card later today.

This is the new Feyenoord and you can't compare it with the horrible team they had last year. They were very active during the transferwindow and they strenghtened their team in all lines. Roy Makaay (from Bayern) is their new targetman, Gio (from Barcelona) is the anchorman on midfield and Hofland (from Wolfsburg) will help in defense. I am not sure if they can compete for the title but they will be in the play-off-race. Utrecht also aims for a play-off spot but it will hard for them. Other teams have more money available to spend and their team has no real big names. Decent odds here for Feyenoord.
