In the opening game I'll have a 2 unit bet on the home side, Germany - Ballack or no Ballack. The German side is not what it used to be years ago but the home advantage will be huge as well as the expectations by the German public. The square side probably, but Deutschland is the play for me:

Germany -1.5 v Costa Rica, 1.80 @ Mansion, 2 units.

Poland are favs against Ecuador and deservedly so. But this will probably be a tight, low scoring game; so I'll opt for Poland -0.25 1.80 instead of -0.5 2.10

Poland -0.25 v Ecuador, 1.79 @ Pinnacle, 2 units.

Try 2 way 90 minutes.

Poland -0.5 is just Poland to win straight up

Poland -0.25 is half your wager on -0.5 and half on the "pk" line.

2.10 = +110 US style

1.80 = -125 US style

Poland -0.25 doesn't pay on the draw - but you only lose half your bet. If you bet on Ecuador +0.25 it pays on both the draw and win.

What happened is I changed my mind. I think I put too little weight on the home advantage + the Tico's friendlies results have been far from impressive + a few key players have been semi-injuried in the last couple of days. Hate to sound too ignorant, but I'm new to soccer wagering, and some of the bets have me pretty confused, so I haven't made any yet.

What does the "pk" mean, and what's with the "pk and -0.5" or "-1 or -1.5" mean anyway. Never seen that option in any other sport before.
