OK, Shrink, so I guess CRIS is taking over DSI... that's what your friend is reporting and that's all BP was saying. He asked about why what's his name's moniker couldn't be printed, I didn't. So I guess kiss my ass would be my next reply.

Diamond is not paying their employees the money they are owed. That is why fighting brokwe out.

Diamond STOLE money, be it from their employees or from the players they are still not paying their debts. In Costa Rica we have severance pay when somebody is fired. In the States there is welfare, in Canada there is Unemployment Insurance. All three serve the same purpose. They are a systemic way of social security that tries to guarantee that when somebody is fired they have an oportunity to get back on their feet. Be it for re-training or just to hold on until a decent offer comes by.

Besides their social security money they are also NOT paying the money owed for the last couple of weeks worth of work. Even the most colsed-minded reactionary and conservative of you will agree that people should be paid for work done.

Screwing over your own people....

great business.

Joey,

Maybe I misunderstood but it is time for them to give a statement because so many are confused...

I put a call into them and they said they;d be returning it...

Let's hope so because many gamblers and their own clients have a right to know what is really happening...

Go2:

My read was that the employees were paid up todate + given a couple of weeks severance pay.

??? Maybe when Shrink gets a return call, he can clarify this issue. I don't have a clue..

SuperWimp, the social security when you are working for a book is that they pay you at least 400% of what you would make anywhere else in CR. So stash that money away instead of wasting it.

Everyone knows the deal going in. Did you see them paying 100% of the caja? If you want severance pay and 100% of the caja then work somewhere else and make much less.

There are plenty of college graduates making $250 per month in CR. They get paid in colones so that actually drops month after month. Many locals are making $250 per week working for the books. That is in dollars so you are actually getting a raise compared to your local peers week after week. You are making 4 times as much as your peers are.

There is your security. Put 75% of your pay in the bank.

I don't hear anyone complaining about the low salaries of their peers and helping them out month after month.

Joey, just to clear up what they are pissed off about.

Here is how the labor laws work in CR, but see my above post for how I feel on the issue.

In CR obviously they have to be paid for time worked. That is the two weeks they were given. They are also owed two weeks vacation if they haven't used it for that year (they were also paid that). They are owed alganaldo which would be about 1.8 weeks of pay at this point in the year. And they are owed 1 month pay for every year they worked there.

So a guy that worked there for 2 years and has not used any of his vacation time would be owed, legally, 12.4 weeks of pay. They were given 2 weeks.

But again, see me above post on how I feel about the issue. They can save 3 weeks per month if they like. Over 2 years that would be 72 months of savings. That is compared to working in another "professional" industry in CR. I'm not talking about working in a gas station or McDonalds. They would be lucky to make $100 per month there.

Simple math here people. You see your caja report every week right? You knew the deal but still had your hand out.

On another note, Jason stop trying to stir up shit before you have the facts.

Wrong Joey - as usual - I don't care what the "big guy says".....

They paid pro-rated vacation and aginaldo and the paid the last 2 weeks plus 2 days that we worked....

THEY DID NOT PAY SEVERANCE PAY - WHICH IS THE LAW AND FORCED US TO SIGN A PAPER AGREEING TO WHAT THEY DID PAY AS BEING PAID IN FULL...WHICH MEANS WE SUPPOSEDLY NOW HAVE NO CLAIM TO WHAT THE LAW SAYS THEY MUST PAY.

They haven't heard the end of it from the employees - they RIPPED US OFF and are using the money to pay what players they decide on and stay at CRIS to rip off more.

Truth:

IF you feel you've been wronged, why not hire an attorney there to represent your interests?

It is my understanding the labor laws in CR are quite protective of employees.

If truth be told has the facts correct, that they were forced to sign off in order to get there $, do you have any opinion / comments?
Thanks

Truth, since your not a tico, and not entitled to work in CR in the first place, you don't know tico law. Let me help you out, any contract signed by force is not valid. Since you have all the employees against those few in management, you would win the court case. Of course that would take a few years, and first you would have to be legal to work in CR which you are not.

Hey Gringo,

You must be one of the foriegn employees brought in by the books who get paid much higher saleries than what the reg. clerks receive so you do not need to worry about your aguinaldo or cesantia payments. These people more than likely worked thier asses off for DSI and now they are getting the high hard one. One thing that I would like to let the employees know is that they can not under Costa Rican Law renounce to the rights given to them by the contitution of Costa Rica. So, those papers that they were forced to sign as valid as a good roll of toilet paper. Get your selves a good lawyer and get what is yours by Law!!!
