More Rewards for Foreign Criminals in California

You might think it's bad enough that California's corrupt Gov. Gray Davis has done a flip-flop and given illegal aliens the right to have driver's licenses and thus the ability to cast illegal votes for him. But that's just the start.

Davis now gets to decide whether to sign bills qualifying foreign criminals for "free" (i.e., taxpayer-funded) tuition at community colleges and forcing local governments to accept widely abused identification cards issued by the Mexican government.

The Democrats, natch, are trying to cloud the issue by portraying alien criminals as no different from legal immigrants.

"We're a state of immigrants to some extent. How many native-borns are here?" Senate President Pro Tem John Burton said. "People are people. Just because somebody is an immigrant doesn't mean they're a bad person. ... I think immigrants were used as whipping boys in the economic downturn."

Expect Davis to abuse the taxpayers once again and throw yet another bone to illegal aliens as an incentive for them to break another law and vote for him and other donkeys.

Hello????

Educating criminals is part of rehab. They learn something to make them capable of earning a living and become a productive member of society rather than going back to a life of crime (not to say that it works well or is run properly by the government).

What you prefer they be sent back to Mexico so that they can sneak across the border 2 days later and continue commiting crimes?

Where the hell did you get this one? Sorry but I didn't quite read the rule that says get a drivers license and you can vote. Citizenship, not a drivers license or matricula is needed for that. And would this writer prefer that Mexicans didn't give any identification? And since these "criminals" as you like to call them live in California and pay taxes, and have done so for years if their children have attended school long enough to be capable of making it in community college, why shouldn't they get the discounted rate. Man I tell you racism just colors hateful minds so much these days...

California has become the petri dish of democratic social and economic policy...to the tune of 38 BILLION dollars in the red...You assholes might want to look up the definition of racist before you throw the label around so freely.

Patriot, you mean to tell me that the United States and California are unable to stop the flood of illegal immigration and are unable to deport illegal immigrants? Of course not. The Government chooses for the most part to not enforce the immigration laws and to tacitly allow these people to live here, hold jobs, pay taxes etc. If we let them live here then we should allow them the basic rights and privileges that Americans enjoy. It's hypocritical to simply allow them to stay but then work to deny their basic rights because they are technically illegal. Either deport them or allow them to live here in dignity. We've got illegals who have lived here many many years, having children who are "illegal" and who undoubtedly could live here for 20,50, 100 years. It is repugnant to think that themsleves and all their descendants could possibly live here indefinitely as an essentially second-class citizenry. It is immoral.

Have you seen the proper channels of living in this country? There aren't any! Its amazing how many people make this argument about how if Mexicans want to come here, have them go through the legal channels. The legal channels are not open, plain and simple. The government gives visas to fill job needs, but only for well educated people. The kind of jobs Mexicans are willing to take and are readily available never get any accomodation. Its as if the government thinks magically people willing to work for $6 an hour or less will just come out of the trees and fill those needs. Mexico has long advocated programs to get these people these legal channels with guest worker programs, short-term work visas, and a whole host of other ideas and the US government says no way. Just like the blame the immigrants line for why California is in the hole. This is nothing but blame driven by racism. Politicians in the state love those tax dollars that Mexican people generate, but the minute they have to spend a penny on them its they scream in horror. And they intentionally hide the truth because its easy to blame people who can't vote, who can't defend themselves, and work silently and almost invisibly in the state.

And in case you missed it, California isn't geting "Mexicanized" as it started out with Mexico and has always had written in its existence rules protecting its Mexican traditions in its laws and culture. People of Mexican descent have always been a large percentage of the population in the history of the state, but despite their desire to respect their heritage they are proud Americans that have helped make the state the world powerhouse it is today and helped the US fight its wars and deserve to be called Americans just as much as anyone else. The Mexican born population that lives in California today isn't much different in percentage than it was 50 years ago, its just that the American born have established their place in society and instead of accepting it, the most radical politicians make wild claims that these people are out to return the state to Mexico and that is ridiculous.

Both you guys have good points and I agree with you for the most part...but what happens is that leagal immigration gets undermined..Why the hell should my tax money go to pay for the kids of people who can't follow the rules like the the rest of us...Democrats want illeagals for votes and Pubbies want illeagals for cheap labor and the restof us get ****ed in higher taxes and insurance cost..Its a shit system any way you look at it...by the way this goes for Mexican, Irish and Swedes.

Have you guys learned nothing from 9/11. Remember, more Americans killed in one day since the Civil War. We have to get a stronger partition abuting our bordering neighbors which are Canada and Mexico as we are a nation of laws. Breaking a law does not entitle these illegals to have protection under the law. Ship the illegals that are here back out and let them apply for a a visa like the law abiding foriegners do.

Tough luck if your countries are not doing as well as the US. Capitalism works - change your own homeland. Davis and Clinton have pulled the wool over Americans eyes and the Americans now know it. Republican revolution is just beginning and this is the true republican revolution compared to a knee jerk reaction in 1994. A republican governor in California, who would of tunk it. Events have changed dramatically and the liberal left is dying a slow and painful death.

I don't agree with some of the republican ideas presently like their free drugs to seniors but for the most part they try to let the private enterprise in American flourish as the basic principle of Supply and Demand would have it.

When you really have nothing to say of intelligence or importance just play the Johnny Cochran.

I am still trying to make logic of these arguments. If the Mexicans get in line with the rest they will get a visa around 2050. In the meantime businesses will be facing a serious shortfall of workers and our economy will suffer. That is why they don't get deported, you want to really harm the CA economy and make that $38 billion deficit look small, kill off the business of the state by cutting a big part of its workforce. The countries from which its easy to get a work visa, like EU countries, aren't exactly full of people wanting to get in line so they can come be our janitors. So if we aren't willing as a country to create programs that regulate these immigrants, since policy is we just tell them no way, and we still have all these jobs, what else can we do? Should we encourage parents to tell their kids "when you grow up you should be a janitor, you have good bone structure for it"? Barring that the economy will stop without these contributions to our society. Its easily to blame them for all problems, but no one ever thanks them for the solutions they do provide.

And do I continue hearing people insist on saying Davis or any other politicians wants illegals for votes. Illegals and legals alike can't and don't vote. You can't vote unless you are a citizen, getting a drivers license or bank account or being allowed to live in the countries don't give you the right to vote. What Davis is saying is that the DMV is not the INS, the DMV is there to insure the safety of the drivers of the state and nothing else. In Mexico if you want a drivers license you just go up and pay and tell them you know how to drive in many instances. In California you are forced to take a driving test and prove you have an idea of the rules of the road. Is that really such a threat to the society? And please don't make some bold statement about forgery because there are many ways to get forged documents and IDs, if someone really wanted to do harm through false ID the last thing they would do is go about the drivers license process. They would just pay someone and skip all the trouble it would cause.
