what was the high roller's name and where was he from? Was his dad the real estate mogul or was he?

Wil,

He was said to have lost around 200K. The Nugget Mgmt. was a bit upset that they left to play at Mandalay and tried to comp them back. The still hadn't checked out of their Nugget room, so when they returned a very nice lunch was waiting for them in an even more impressive suite. Mgmt. told them when they return again they would be staying in that type of suite. They also bought that lying bitch a $1000 purse. All appeared good for their return after these gestures. Mgmt. wanted him/them back mostly because he still owed 100K in credit line in addition to the 100K he lost of his own. Tune in next week - same bat time, same bat channel.

If the creators want a second storyline each week, it would be nice if it was something casino-related since that's what the show is supposed to be about. The swingers storyline was completely pointless. It's as if the creators aren't confident enough in the main material, so they try to spice it up with stuff like that in order to attract more viewers. Didn't fit at all. As for the main storyline, I thought it was ok though a little too scripted for my tastes.

Re the purse...

I bet the chick gambled the 25k to try and win some back and 'come to the rescue', lol. Once she blew it, she concocted the story and chucked the purse in a garbage bin. Either that, or she got so high doing blow in the restroom, she left it behind for some senior citizen slots player.

The chump who lost 200k and his posse... as if those jagoffs made their own money. Probably spoiled rich kids who got set up by Daddy with their own real estate development company.

The truly sad thing... these guys head home and think they're superstars for being on the show. Uh, no guys. More like classless dimwits. It's embarassing enough to go on national tv and demonstrate you're a pathetic gambler... a disgrace to go on national tv and behave like that.

I think the Golden Nugget dropped the ball by sucking up to these clowns to try and get their business back. I think they'd get more respect blowing them off. Real classy joint. Must be why The Rx is holding a party there, lol.

Depending on the source, viewership for "The Casino" either slipped significantly this week or remained "fairly solid."

While Nielsen Media Research figures released Tuesday indicate 47,000 Las Vegas households watched Monday's episode for a 7.8 rating and a 12 share, which was down from 70,000 households (11.7 rating and 17 share) the week before, a Los Angeles Fox Broadcasting spokesman offered a far more positive numbers.

"Week 2 retained 88 percent of its premiere ratings in adults 18-49 and 93 percent in adults 18-34," said Scott Grogin, vice president of corporate communications.

The show, which features the Golden Nugget and the daily travails of the new owners, gained 4 percent in men 18-34, Grogin said.

"Bottom line, these numbers are fairly solid, not spectacular," he added. "TV viewership is down as a whole during the summer. But these numbers reflect a solid debut. As a network we're very pleased with what we've' seen so far."

The number of national viewers fell 14 percent from 5.8 million last week to 5 million, according to Nielsen's survey.

National households dropped from 4.2 million to 3.6 million, and ratings eroded from 3.9 to 3.3. The share slid from 6 to 5. However, "there is not a network that uses households," Grogin said.

On the plus side, after ruling prime-time locally last week, even beating out CBS ratings giant "C.S.I.," "The Casino" lost ground but was still the No. 2 most-watched show in Las Vegas, behind "C.S.I.," which pulled an 8.1 rating and a 15 share this week.

Second-week erosion is not uncommon for new shows because some viewers fall away after checking out the hype.

"This could be to Vegas what Warrant was to hair bands," said a local PR maven. "There's too much of an overload on reality (shows) and the Vegas hype of the moment. I just hope it goes away."

Who cares about what the ratings are in Las Vegas homes? Of course they will watch the show more than anyone else - how it does in the rest of the country seems far more important. My guess is the ratings will keep dropping every week and you will not see this show on again next year. I always enjoy watching shows related to gambling, especially those on the Travel and Discovery channels, but this one is really awful.
