he said it to make a point. To start a serious discussion.

He also said he loves Mexican people and has hired thousands of latinos. That part some of you pretend doesn't exist.

He could have started a serious discussion without making such a hateful, racist statement, and that's what it was. Saying the second part afterwards, when he was called on it, is the same as a racist saying "some of my best friends are Black/Jewish/Muslim/whatever" to try and "prove" they aren't a racist or an Anti- whatever.

That's not what Trump is saying. He never said that. You're making stuff up.

No, I'm not. He said "Mexico is sending", which implies the Gov't is actively sending their criminals, rapists, drug dealers. I quoted him directly.

That is so disingenuous man. That is obviously not what he was saying.

It's just a figure of speech.

Do you actually think Mexico as a Country is actively emptying their jails and sending their drug runners and rapists, and that is most of the Mexican immigrants? That's what Trump is saying. It is such a simpleton, stupid, sound bite, racist comment.
he never said that. Until you just said it now, it never even crossed my mind.

Nothing racist was said.

Nothing racist was meant.

Obama said they are gang bangers and need to be stopped. He said it July 1, 2015. He's right. Where's the outrage Guesser? Where's the "Obama is a racist" fake outrage? Where's the "Obama thinks all Mexicans are gang bangers"? Silence. Be cause we all know what he meant and of course because he's a democrat.

Yeah see, this is when people take the comments too literally. When he says "They're not sending their best", he doesn't LITERALLY mean they're sending people and it is some elaborate plan to destroy America by sending a bunch of thugs. It is a figure of speech bro.

Words have meaning. If he didn't mean to say it, he shouldn't have said it. And instead of stepping back, saying he was trying to say something else, and just worded it wrong, he's doubled, tripled, quadrupled down on it, another major character flaw of his, where he just can't admit he's wrong about anything.

I don't think half of the 11 million that are here are criminals. The majority of illegal immigrants in America are actually here on expired visas, and not even border crossing related. You're right on that the criminal element coming over here is due to the drug trade, building walls won't stop the demand or keep drugs out. We can't even keep drugs out of our prisons.

Besides splitting hairs over his comments on the exact specifics of what he said, you are right he is tapping into a very real xenophobia that Americans have. I do think Mexicans/South Americans have a stigma to them that they are very eager to come here but not so eager to culturally and socially assimilate. I'm not really sure how true that is, but certainly Trump is hitting a nerve in a Pat Buchanon type of way.

LMAO

he's amazing. Will he hang in long enough for the debates? :)

when advised that he misread the article from which he cited as evidence (claimed Latino illegal immigrants are more likely to commit rape that the wider population ) , Trump was seemingly alarmed, hurt and he blurted ; “Well, somebody’s doing the raping, Don! I mean somebody’s doing it! Who’s doing the raping? Who’s doing the raping?”

now i ask you, where will get this type of entertainment?....the chap needs to hang around :)

here's Jeb;

"I don’t think he represents the Republican Party, and his views are way out of the mainstream of what Republicans think," Bush said. "No one suggests that we shouldn’t control our borders – everybody has a belief that we should control our borders. But to make these extraordinarily ugly kind of comments is not reflective of the Republican Party. Trump is wrong on this."
"He’s doing this to inflame and to incite and to get to draw attention which just seems to be the organization principle of his campaign. It doesn’t represent the Republican Party or its values," Bush added.

cmon Jeb, he's creating fans, they like his swagger....:).

This is similar to something like "You didn't build that" where maybe the exact correct choice of words weren't made, but anyone with a shred of objectivity should be able to understand the point he was making.

I guess he could've worded it better without being quite as divisive in tone but it doesn't mean he doesn't have a point.

Please show me Obama's EXACT quote, not a portion, like "you didn't build that" or some other such nonsense, like I did with Trump, the whole quote. Thanks.

He's already said some version of "Jeb sucks" like 50 times, he'll just say it 50 more times. He attacks him on Iraq and immigration all day, says his brother was terrible, etc

I'm telling you man they're cowering in fear. Would you want this egomaniac in a debate with you? If his poll #s can stay above water, he is gonna be a huge thorn in the side of the GOP. He's never held public office before so there really isn't much they can hit him back on whereas he can pretty much go to town on all of these guys about 1 thing or another.

If he stays in the race for the duration he is definitely going to damage the other candidates, perhaps even the eventual nominee. Jeb's campaign is already calling him and saying take it easy on him, they're on the same side, etc.

A certain segment do. I predicted when he got in, he'd zoom to the top in the polls within a month, and be unbelievably entertaining, and then, when he was actually scrutinized, he'd collapse spectacularly, and damn entertainingly. So far, it's happening according to script.

anyways, here ya go

Trump's comments were designated towards illegal immigrants, and are in no way racist or bigoted.

'cowering in fear'?

geesus, surely you jest. :)......

they will let his ego destroy him......He put his foot in his mouth in his opening speech a number of times. I don't think he can help himself, i really don't. When things get heated in a live debate?..oh boy....going to be fun theatre...:).

btw cowering in fear is not a characteristic of American politicians...or is it?
