The Miami Dolphins joined the list of teams limiting capacity to their home openers.

The team announced Monday that Hard Rock Stadium will host a maximum of 13,000 fans. All spectators will be required to wear a mask. Other social distancing and safety-related protocols will also be put in place, including a no tailgating policy.

The Dolphins kick off their home slate in Week 2, on Sept. 20 versus the Buffalo Bills.

"When we started the process back in March of exploring what a socially-distanced stadium could look like, we made the health and safety of everyone the first priority; knowing that if we felt that we couldn't make it safe, we simply wouldn't have fans," said Miami Dolphins Vice Chairman and CEO Tom Garfinkel said in a statement. "We're happy that our elected officials recognize the attention to detail and diligence that we've put into creating a safe environment and that they made the decision to move forward with a 13,000-capacity stadium at this time."

Dolphins season-ticket holders will have first priority to purchase tickets based on tenure. Season-ticket members will also have the option to roll their 2020 payments to 2021.

Very cool that the fans who want go to the game, can now go.

Hope they stay safe and enjoy themselves.

We rolled our tickets into 2021.

Sucks but it is what it is

Do you think the dolphins will sell out 13,000?

Easy.

That team is on the rise.

And they have a schedule that should fuel interest as the season goes along ending with home games against the Chiefs and Pats.

Gonna be fun down there this year.

13K is 20% of capacity

No tailgating
You are told what gates to enter
All transactions are cashless
Season tix holders DONT get tix to all games

I was excited about their home schedule as I've never seen Russ or Mahomes play.

Guess i'll have to wait

I think you rolled those tickets over in the wrong year, Fins.

Here's something that's gonna help the Phins just a little - no Pats home fans. I think that the teams who play without fans will be at a disadvantage.

There is nothing like the thrill that your team gives you as they are having a season where they are finally rising from years of ashes.

I think that's the Dolphins this year.

And I think those 13,000 seats will be going at hefty scalper's prices if they get off on the right foot.

i don't know if there will be a secondary market for college/nfl games and certainly won't be scalpers walking around the stadium as they won't have a physical ticket to sell you. these will all be phone tix and, in most cases, the school/team is not allowing the mobile ticket to be resold. they want to have a good idea of who is entering the stadium so don't expect any scalpers and probably very few secondary opportunities as ticket holder is unlikely to give a stranger their ticket login details so they can present the ticket on their phone at the stadium.

I think the fins are still 1 year away from having a GOOD football team. This seems like a 7-9 year this year but a team going in the right direction.

I just hope its 13k dolphins fans.

The only time we'll see ALOT of fans at the stadium is when they are playing a team that has a SOLID visiting crowd. Those games are more fun as well.

I sat through that week 2 ass whooping last season between Antonio Brown and the pats vs the fins. That stadium was LOUD as the visiting team was putting a foot in the home teams' behinds

Wow. Didn't realize that they were effectively blocking scalpers. Thanks for the rundown.

SEC schools are saying that they want to know, as best as possible, who exactly is sitting in the seats so mobile tix that cannot be transferred. Bama have jacked up prices big time due to limited seating and now a tide pride member with sufficient points to get into that tier will be paying way more $$ and in far worse seats than they've earned with those points as they are social distancing the 20% capacity. The top point earners don't sit in the seats they'll have this year...plus need to wear a mask when it's sunny and 97 degrees. good times...

student tix will still be very cheap but about half of those limited tickets will go to seniors. i assume around 10-15k students normally so that will get kicked down to 2-3k this year

Many NFL teams havent given actual tickets out for past few seasons.

Everything get transmitted through the app or the wallet on the cell phone.

Most NFL tickets get scanned via telephone these days.

Curious to see how stubhub and other ticket brokers do this season

scalped plenty of pitt and steelers games in last few years and they never sent me a ticket to my phone, just handed me the paper version :)

no way i would opt-in for seats this year. a high-end Bama tide pride holder used to sitting in primo seats and paying 250-300 per seat per game would now owe the same money to get tossed into a seat lottery. getting pushed from midfield lower level to the upper deck north end zone? nah, even though it means that people lower on the tide pride list will pass you on the points list....

same happening with steelers where "fans are unlikely to sit in their purchased seats for 2020".

Yeah, i dont want "random" seats

I like my fins seats. Plus we know a bunch of people around us.

Just got an outdoor tv and its been AWESOME so far. Now i'm hoping that i can screen mirror fins games from my phone to that tv

should be easy enough. if not, and you live close enough to your local cbs/fox affiliates, just buy an OTA antenna and plug into that tv... will bring it up in HD without the delay of going through the phone. if close enough to the tower(s) even the shittiest antenna will pull that up in HD especially outside

we used to go camping up in Slippery Rock and pull in Steelers games on any Pittsburgh local (and one Youngstown local) with a $10 directional antenna and Slippery Rock is 50 miles away

Yeah, i'm local, just no antenna. Doing 100% apps on the tv.

Been fortunate so far since i have mlb package and also have a cable subscription so i can get everything on espn and tnt for hoops.

However no success getting cbs so far

Also trying to figure out how to get red zone channel this season on a tv (can get through phone but major pain). With that being said, if my football pools are a no go this year, then i'm not sure how much red zone i'm really going to care to watch
