This guy is the lebrun of coaching. Plenty of stats to defend him but the fact of the matter is he sucks and will never win anything ever again. GOD i cannot stand this clown. His rotations off the bench are a joke and make little to no sense and when blake is out there by himself he surrounds him with no shooters. I hate the clippers and i HATE doc rivers. Hope he doesn't find a job after he's finally canned from LA

I agree with you to some degree on this one. There are lots of times I question what Doc is doing and it seems there is no logic behind it. But NBA coaching in general is joke. 90% of it is managing egos and making chemistry work. Doc seems to be better than most coaches at that.

Yep....Every NBA coach is overrated in a sense.

In basketball, a team's success comes down to talent, period.

Yes that's true to an extent for every sport, but not near like it is in the game of basketball in which a superstar/stars can carry a team on its shoulders far more/easier...

agree, to me the key for the celtics team winning back in 2008 was the leaders were all vets (pierce, garnett and allen) and their defensive schemes, which, last time i heard, were run by thibs not rivers

What a disaster.

[h=1]Doc Rivers had a case of deja vu from Sixers in Game 5 loss to Hawks[/h]By Ky Carlin | 12:36 am ET

The Philadelphia 76ers were playing some excellent basketball to begin Game 5 with the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday as they were able to build a 26-point lead. They were playing some terrific basketball as they were playing their style of ball and they built a 62-40 halftime lead.
Philadelphia had 12 assists, they held a 30-19 rebounding advantage, and they held the Hawks to 31% shooting and just 3-for-12 from deep in the first half.
Then, it all disappeared. The ball stopped moving, the Sixers were not able to get into any groove on the offensive end, and they were a mess on defense as the Hawks rallied to win it 109-106. It followed the same script as Monday’s Game 4 loss when the Sixers blew an 18-point lead in a similar fashion so there is a little deja vu involved here for Philadelphia.

Overrated to an extent but when you got a guy shooting 28% from FT as 1 of your main players that ain’t the easiest thing to navigate, especially in an era where shooting is a way too big outsized part of the game.

Philly built their team around those guys as well as they could but just tough to build a team that plays more traditional b-ball nowadays vs teams that just bomb 3s all game

I like Doc, the 76er's have holes, a primary ball handler can't shoot free throws and Embid is uncoachable. I never saw one player make so many lazy/stupid decisions game after game after game. He goes into hero mode, that kills his team

I believed Doc would coach him out of those bad habits. Hasn't succeeded yet

Maybe ATL isn't getting enough credit for playing well. Their team is pretty well balanced.

How much influence does any NBA coach have on his team. Sooner or later a disciplinarian like Tibbs will be run out of town even with the success of the Knicks. You think any of these superstar teams are paying any attention at all? Rivers and the white guy axis of stupidity (Denv, Milw, Utah) don't know how to make an in-game adjustment because the players are running the show.
