People will not do this for very much longer, IMO !

However, people won't be so willing to get close enough to strangers to shake hands, dance, even sit near them anywhere, like a concert, airplane, bus, train, etc.
We are stuck in a Twilight Zone episode like thing, and I don't like it much !

I guess it depends what you count as normal. A new normal but it will be normal.
After 911, we were terrified. We were in bad shape when thinking of national security. No doubt people were more hesitant to fly and they when they do they looked around for suspicious people.
Things like TSA have tightened up but it is "normal" enough. It was just a tragedy that will go in our history books and lessons learned.
This will be another page in the history books. We may take more precautions for certain things now. The generation living now will probably be more clean (hand washing, etc.) for the rest of their lives. Which may make us healthier. But this too shall pass.
Masks will be more acceptable but people will not wear them too much. Coughing will not forever be a sign that your are to be looked at funny.

I went to Lowes today and there were quite a few older folk there I was surprised. One older lady there in particular mentioned that. She was complaining to another shopper at how hot it was with that thing on and kept taking it on and off. Other older folk I saw didn’t have it on and by the looks it seemed rather defiant or didn’t give a damn. After that went to Smith’s (a grocery store) and overwhelming older folk didn’t have masks as compared to the rest.
Of course we will. We're starting already, with the numerous protests against the
dumber aspects of SOME of these shutdowns.
People recognize when crises like these are being manipulated for various subtle,
half hidden agendas and the backlash will prove longer-lived than the actual
epidemic.
This is NOT to minimize the awful impact of the thousands who lost their lives. It's
just fascinating seeing our overseer/watchdogs trip over one another while trying
to take credit, and assign blame...

Of course they will. It's already happening where I'm at. Plenty of people already outside and attempting to help the businesses that have been shut down as they figure out their re-opening configurations. Sure, there will be some Howie Mandell types that will be germophobes for the rest of their lives (that's to be expected from those that live their lives in fear). Others will simply treat this virus accordingly and get back to what they were doing. I'm more concerned with stopping the helicopter money myself. It is amazing to read about places where people are actually making more by staying out of work and incentivized to continue these actions. But that does seem to be the game plan when you're trying to get people to be reliant on the government.
