I have to agree with Coast2Coast. Just because one sells plays does not make one the devil. I have a service i use every year in college hoops. He has paid off really big. 20 x the investment. I use a number of methods to decide my plays. When I have time I handicap some games myself, I follow some people in this forum and others, I research stat sites, and as mentioned above, I use some service plays. I think a smart better should use all of the resources avaialable.
With that said, if you ask me "are most touts scumbags", I would give a resounding yes. The real problem is finding a service that is sharp, honest and not out to rip you off. There are even some touts with really questionable marketing tacticts, who actually give out some good picks. Touts have a bad rep but rightfully so, just because so many of them are crooks. But to say that anyone who sells picks is a scumbag is going too far.
Like C2C says, people sell information all the time. There's a fee to subcribe to Statfox and Don Best.
