Do you overspend at Christmas?

Every year I overspend buying for everyone.

I really need to cut back but I buy things for family and then see something else and then sometimes forget what I had already bought.

I just usually give a small amount of money to my family, it saves me from the hassle of buying gifts.

My wife does all the spending for both of us.

Holidays are over rated. We buy what we need/want any time of the year. Why does it have to be Christmas to enjoy something? Spend the holidays being thankful for what you have, spending time with the people you love and spoil the shit out of someone if you want to.

My favorite day is the shopping day I spend with my son and daughter. My wife is NOT invited, and neither are their spouses. We shop, we drink, we laugh, no restrictions, and I buy them something special. Been doing that for 25 years now, since they were like 10.

Their mother is a pain in the ass to shop with, and my daughter in law came once but she changed the whole dynamic. So it's just the three of us.

Then I have a day with the grandchildren when I tell them they could pick out anything they want. So far they're pretty cheap. Might rethink that strategy as they age.

Anyhow, I spend too much. Got that from my mother. And I wouldn't change a thing
