They took us to the back room, which was perfect as it was bright and quiet (the decibel level in the main dining would have been a bit much).

NIce presentation. Steamed shrimp dumplings were juicy with 3 dipping sauces. Clients orderd a grilled pork (intersting flavoring), pork and garlic (very tasty), while I ordered the fix price lunch with Duck salad (fantastick), hot and sour soup (not a robust variety of flavors), and the shrimp grand marnier (excelent). Sorbet for desert. $90 including 20% tip, not too bad. And the client loved it. 4.5 stars out of 5 (the soup cost it a half a star).

Doc- Good place that delivers to the Marriot, with beer. Want to kick back and watch the draft tonight (just turned down some Mets tix, too hot). Any suggestions?

I believe that they are known for their shrimp grand marnier. I'm really glad you enjoyed your meal. Hope you ordered something good to go along with that terrible game the Met's played.

Had the Hawian Sushi/Sashimi entree, tuna poke (raw tuna cubes on like a tortia chip kind of thing with flying fish eggs, soup, and 2 saporros, and 2 pieces of eel for desert. Marriot sent up some hagen-daaz vanilla ice cream).

Back to Phila today.

Back in NYC thru tomorrow night.
After that? Possibly someplace in Indiana or California, with perhaps a few days in Boca in the middle.

Doc, I took you rsuggestion and walked for the Eastside to Pam Real Thai.
I must have forgotten about the no credit cards.
Had the hae Karn (good)
Yum Woon Sen (very delicious, and had a nice kick)
Shrimp Pad Thai (excellent)
Thai Iced Tea - so so. Didn't get desert, but had some interestin items.
$22 before tip (for those who are curious $27 after tip)

Tomorrow is the Old Homestead Steakhouse (working at 23rd and Park so its not that far). They have one in the Borgotta and were supposed to have Kobe Beef hot dogs ($19), or I may go for the $40 burger (I have just got to have a $0 burger once in my life).

Pam Real Thai 4**** out of 5 (Thai iced tea and no credit cards). But a good value. Next time I may try a duck dish, they looked good. Definitely a place for the locals, not many tourists.

Glad you enjoyed Pam Real Thai (the one on 9th, rigtht?). The Pad Thai is all I eat there, they roll their own noodles. Next time youre on 9th try the other place I recommended, Wondee Siam (b/w 52 and 53), NOT Wondee Siam II.

Old homestead is good, but honestly nothing to write home about. And BTW, its actually a decent walk from Park Ave S. I dont care how popular or mainstream it ever becomes, P. Lugers in Brooklyn the best steak you'll get in this city. Its an aged steak with a bite. I usually hate the 'place everyone wants to get into,' but they're the exception and forever will be. Cash only also. As for the most well renowned haute hamburger in the city - that is to be found at DB Bistro. Hamburger with Foie Gras and black truffles. Would love to have one, but I would honestly feel very odd grabbing a $50 burger and shoving it my mouth. Nontheless Old homestead is a NYC institiution and worth the experience.

The area where your job will be tomorrow has really evolved into a great restaurant neighborhood (you're right by Patria - one of the first in that area since years ago). Enjoy. GN.

Well I'm going to Thousqand Oaks Cali for the better part of the next month.
Decided to do some work and blow off Old Homestead.
Went to DB Bistro around 9
They offerd me a complimentary chanpangene which I turned down and had a French Martini instead. A garlic chick pea spred on toast chips (hummus) was good. The Tuna Tatare was out of this world. And of course, the DB Burgeer, grond prime rib, braised short ribs, truffles, foie gras and vegatable root.
Doc, it melts in your mouth (at $27). Waiter recomended a glass of Rioja, Palacious '01, "la Vendimia" from Spain. Very noce and not tanic.(they gave me the wine on the house)
White choclate dome with an infusion of coconut and rasberries in the middle. $66 before tax. $86 with tax and tip.

You've got to go. I know I'll be back

Holy Shit man. That sounds really good. I am glad you enjoyed yourself. I am such a sucker for truffles you have no idea. I make my eggs with truffle butter and scramble them with white truffle flour - pure decadence. I think know that wine very well (did you mean Conde Del Valdemar?). My GF loves it. I am pretty sure 01 was a good year in Spain. Great to hear you liked DB. I have to try it out.

Damn, are you ever home LOL? I dont know how you can cope with so much travel. I dont think I could handle it. On the flipside, you'll experience more in a year than most do in a lifetime. I never asked, but where is your home (state)? Anyhow, have a safe trip and keep in touch. GN.

Home is where the heart is.
Actually west of Philadelphia, in the burbs. Its just too far to commute NYC with the hours I put in.
You were right on the name of the wine.

Never heard of truffle flour.

I travel 30-45 weeks a year. Wife joins me on about 3 trips, usually NYC to see plays and dine. She is joining me in Vegas (didn't really have a choice in that, but glad she is coming).

Gotta get some sleep, work in the am, go home, repack, then off to the airport and Cali. Not really looking forward to this trip. If it was in LA that would be one thing, but its about an hour north and the hotel is another 30 minutes.

At least I get some miles and some more Marriot points. maybe go to the islands for our anniversary.

Take care buddy.
