They did in theory "fix" them. But Ida is different from Katrina that hit Cat 5 before weakening to Cat 3. They need to pray for eyewall replacement prior to landfall. Right now I personally don't think that happens unfortunately; pressure has dropped to 976 MB and I think it get's below 950 - 955. They are crazy if they don't evacuate (and it's not mandatory in many areas); especially in stick houses. Just coming from someone who has been through Cat 1's, 2's, 3's; a 4; and bitch Irma 5 in 2017 packing 200+ and passing 20 miles to south of me and my poured concrete casa; it sucked; and only way to evacuate was flying out for me; I stayed; got lucky; only $88,000 worth of damage; others lost everything (stick buildings\houses) and were not insured; power out for 33 days on many parts of island including me. This is not gonna be good (bout the only thing that is is it's moving very fast but will slow at landfall. It's gonna be ugly I am afraid but hope I am wrong.

hope for the best prepare for the worst. Your concrete house just the foundation or everything able ground - the roof? My wife and I were talking last week before storm missed us on Long Island about building a concrete house with poured floors with drains for physically washing them down. We got a lot of pets and wood floors constant maintenance for high traffic. Keep us posted and wishing you good luck it misses

Brendanjack,

Very happy to hear Henri missed you by a bit. Re me; I am not in NO. Got an ex girl in Central Islip and she was spared as well. I'm talkin Islands mon. Mi casa there, small concrete cistern I don't use; city water, slab, walls concrete; poured 4500 PSI. Tile floors; original roof still with me and be strong and covering Ondura (shit product) originally. Cane in 2008 I had Ondura replaced with metal (free of charge from insurance). Faked them out cause I have dealt with insurance in past (fucking scammers insurance companies are unless you pay attention to fine print.). Don't know about Long Island or NY, or NJ; cept I don't want to live there. It's not that it's not pretty; just not for me. I was just giving opinion on Ida; description of Irma in 2017 in the islands. You can get past tracks at NHC; and best to read "discussion" section for a current storm; make your own interpretations on that. I'm just saying; pray for Northern Gulf Coast; cause I got a bad feelin about it; and I hope I am wrong. Peace yo.

Michelangelo,

Me rather not say; jah? Bout 90 north of Haiti/DR; bout 600 miles SSE of Miami. Internet works good enough; sometimes spotty; no there right now; way away from NO; just givin me thoughts on Ida and be prayin mon for all in path; they inside a day (NHC usually very good at this point in time on day out); 11 PM EST update very importante; me pray for all in da area of Ida path. Bad news is I think it strengthen as they predict; good news it move fast, bad news MB gonna drop; good news (currently) H force winds don't extend much for now; huge difference on a direct or NE of dis one. Flodding I can no predict. I pray and smoke a bit of dat just now, wait for 11 PM. the area it comes ashore is fucked. Peace.

We are about to find out if this levy is going to work

Nothing but hopeful thoughts the levy holds and this doesn't go bad.

Not gonna be a direct hit to New Orleans but then again neither was Katrina .
This is gonna be bad for Houma and Grand Isle .
Wont be a joke in New Orleans by any means .

Ive lost communication with my platform at work .
This is a first . It survived Katrina as a point of reference .
My platform taking direct hit right now .

Would not be surprised if it disappears

Down to 930 MB; sadly, I can't imagine pumps keeping up; also of huge concern is the port where almost 20% of oil for country comes in from gulf coast. This will be a sad event; and I want to be wrong so, so much. Good luck and prayers to all there.
