Many things happened to them and no its not all because of the Coach. Coming into the season, it wasn't a secret that IU had no depth in thier frontcourt, heck check out Blue Ribbon, it actually says "If IU's lack of depth in the frontcourt isnt exposed." But it has been exposed, and it has been injured. George Leach missed 9 games I believe and Sean Kline has missed the last 3. With those 2 in the lineup they have a well below average frontcourt, with only one of them it is a complete joke. It is George Leach, 6'1 AJ Moye(yes listed at 6'3 but he is barely 6'1 in shoes, I have stood by him many a time), then 6'8 Frosh Pat Ewing Jr, 6'8 Jr Mike Roberts(D3 Talent, no joke, can't believe Coach Knight recruited him)
The frontcourt is the main reason this team sucks, 10 or 11 times an opposing post player has garnered a career high. Another reason is stupidity down the stretch, basically this team has no leader and no smart players. Marshall Strickland needs to become a leader on this team. They have blown leads in the final 2 minutes of 3 of thier last 4 Assembly Hall losses. 2 of these games they led for pretty much the first 38 or 39 minutes(Illinois/Minnesota)The last 4 home losses have been a combined by 9 pts. They just can't finish, some of it goes on Coach Davis for sure, but seriously, this frontcourt is so bad its hard to say this team would be much better with other coaches. Coach K has what 8 McDonalds AAs? Recruiting is the reason why our frontcourt is so weak, Coach Davis banked on Sean May coming to IU, then he went to UNC and that hurt, plug him in on this team and we are instantly in first place in the Big 10. This year we came in #2 for Luol Deng, Charlie Villanueva, Kris Humphries, and a couple other big men, that is killing us. Coach Davis is still learning, but next year a great recruiting class is coming in, even if Josh Smith doesnt come. Tello Palacios #23 in nation is down to IU and FSU and will be at the IU/Michigan game next week, IU needs him to committ. Coach Davis has next year to show major improvement, if not, he will likely be gone.
