The Pistons have now dropped 22 of their last 23 games, a serious disgrace for any franchise, while the Pacers have lost six of their last seven. It seems half the league goes into the tank when management realizes they won’t sniff the playoffs and would rather try for that lottery draft pick.
However, the oddsmakers are harnessing the Pacers with a seven-point handicap and I can’t imagine a world in which I will lay seven when betting on a team that only three weeks ago lost to the Pistons, 117-97, and were installed as four-point favorites.
Although Detroit is losing games in bunches, we should take into consideration they have covered four of their last six games while Indiana has cashed in just two of their last seven contests. I’m not crazy about Detroit but give me a seven-point head start against a team that is in a shame spiral of its own and I’m down.
