Correctamondo. Very good.

BTW. the 87 Tigers although very good, were not going to get by the Twinkies. Who won it all by beating a good Cardinal team in 7 games. That series the home team won every game.

Yeah , I hated Detroit at the time , as I was extremely jealous of their success and my first taste of Orioles failure,lol.. So I was very happy they went down, but I though Detroit was the best team....I may have to pull that up and take a lokk too,lol...

Yeah thought so , I remembered Detroit being the team to beat, I remember being stunned when 85-77 Minnesota beat them...4 EAST teams would have WON the WEST...Not unusual back then,,,

The problem was The MetroDome, the Twins went undefeated in the playoffs at home. BTW. the aforementiond Juan Berenguer was by 87 a Twin, (8 - 1).

Hrbek, Puckett, Gagne, Brunansky, Gladden, and other than Strings Viola and Jeff Reardon not much pitching. They did have the Hefty Bag in center field.

Yeah I grew up watching Baltimore DEMOLISH that Twinkies team...That group was awful back in the early 80`s, I think Baltimore beat them 90 % of the time....They jelled into TWO TIME CHAMPIONS THOUGH! Hard to believe looking back the Twins have two titles in the last 16 years...While teams like LA, Balt, Bos, even Atl, Oak, have less or NONE! Oh and don`t forget Gary Gaetti

I forgot Gaetti. Friggin Red Sox have not won since Woodrow Wilson was president. It don't seem right somehow, even the Marlins have a World Series, at least the Expos have'nt won yet.
Another little nugget regarding the 87 Twins: Bert Blyleven who went 15 and 12 allowed a major league high 46 homers, probably mostly in the HomerDome.

For years I played that game, especially trying to win with the Dodgers and Red Soxs of that year. Ever played Diamond Mind Baseball? Statistical based game. Play it every now and then.

Yeah I was just scanning that staff,lol...Smithson, Les Straker and an ancient Joe Niekro as the 5th starter, WOW! The bullpen was very good though...

Blyleven and Viola was about it, and Blyleven was on his last leg, damn I remember having Blyleven in the 1970 Topps set, then he went on to Pittsburgh and was like a 3-4 starter, then came full circle back to Minnesota!

Degenerate , I never heard of that game...We played status pro from 80 to 85...The 79 Pirates were the team I grew attatched to ironically....Also one year we got the classic teams which was very cool...I wonder if Avalon Hill stil makes this game?? I am pretty sure they were produced in Baltimore actually

When I was a kid I used to play baseball with a deck of cards. Each card had a value, eg. aces were homers, kings triples, etc. We would make up all-star lineups and boxscores. You had to take a lot of cards out of play or the scores were too high. we used 1 ace and 1 king, 2 queens (doubles), 3 jacks (singles) 2 tens (walks), all other cards were outs. 9's were flies but could be sacrifices if a man was on base. 2's and 3's were k's. I seem to remember a game called Strato-ball or something like that but I never had one. The cards actually worked pretty good, this of course was in the late 50's and early 60's.

WIL

That sounds like the prehistoric version of "Status Pro" LOL...Wil that was good thinking...

Basically the same concept, based on statisical breakdown, it was very realistic!

We had this game , I can`t remember the name it may have been Stratomatic or All Star Baseball.....It was round disc shaped real player cards...You stuck the lineup of cards in a disc shaped slot then spun the dial, on the card were marked sections with the players likelyhood based on the player....

The #1 was at the top of the card that was a Homerun, numbers 7-13 were on the sides of the card they were singles, it was pretty good , again its was broken into the % with each player...

LOL I remember Rod Carew , he had these HUGE singles areas on his card, some players had a homerun spot the size of a thick line...It was a great game as a kid!
