Nothing like sticking to your principles and actually voting on issues based on your conscience...eh, demmos?

Way to switch positions on an issue on a moment's notice because you think it'll get you elected next time...

Agreed. I think it's pathetic and weak.

Shotgun: as a matter of fact my dad and I watched FNC the other day. My first impression was that it seems to cater to those with attention deficit disorder. It's rather flashy. I only watched half an hour so can't comment on the bias really, though I heard not one person make a critical statement of Bush, and he was the topic.

Have you finished (started?) Secret War yet? I got Vulcans for Christmas, so I'll bust into that next week-ish.

Just make sure you watch Brit Hume's show; he's the best reporter on TV. Not done yet on Friedman's book; will finish it by this weekend hopefully. It's a damn good read so far even if you have to actually read it as opposed to skimming though.

If they changed their stance on abortion it still wouldn't sway many people who vote based on this issue to the Democratic party. Remember, it's hard to forgive a group of people who are against a ban on late term abortions and against parental notification.

TruthTwister,
They were ONLY against the late-term abortion bill because is did NOT have a provision for a mother who's life was at risk. But, of course, that little iota of truth doesn't fit your idiotic agenda, idiot, does it?

I remember this guy during the RNC coverage. And I think he's the host of some Sunday morning show, too, isn't he? I can picture him, anyway.

NO American qualifies for 'the best reporter on tv.' To be a great reporter in the US would mean risking your career. Do you ever watch any international news media?

Fantasy and SF? What's that???

We're talking about George Friedman, owner of www.stratfor.com, and author of America's Secret War, by far the best book on the WoT and war in Iraq that I've read. It's totally non-partisan and oozing with info. I highly recommend it.

Never mind. Just got that. Fantasy and SciFi. Uh, no. I read the Chrysalids in high school, which is as close to that as I get. Though if you're up for a new read, I'd recommend 1984 by Orwell. Fascinating stuff. ;)

New read? I read 1984 in 1963. I also read Animal Farm - both very thin books and fast reads.

Sooner or later, you get your fill of the bios and histories and start on fiction.

I now prefer trade or escapist literature -

Slander, you are really gullible if you think they are against late term abortions for that reason. There is a provision for the mother if her life is at risk. What the pro-death people want is something in the bill that says if the woman has a headache she can use that for an excuse to have an abortion.

Why does this issue come up over and over again?

Abortion is not a pretty thing, personally I'm against it, but the bottom line is that it's a bigger social problem when it's illegal than when it's not. Just like alcohol and drugs all you do is create a lucrative black market product/service by making it illegal.

Rudy Guliani 08 Republican favorite has been divorced 3 times and is in favor of killing little babys. I think a pro life Al Gore would beat him, especailly with southern folks not being fond of Yankees.

Another issue that the reactionaries have been allowed to control!

Until the middle takes control of this debate, it won't change.

The extreme right says "no abortions - EVER"!

The extreme left says "Abortions anyplace, at anytime, for anyone - it's a womans issue and a woman's right - even if the woman is 12 or 13, there should be no oversight by anyone - EVER"

For me, it is a womans right - an adult woman - until the baby can lived outside of the womb un-aided - then it's a right to life.

Yes, there are issues that would ahve to be resolved, such as rape, incest, and the life of the mother amongst others.

To my way of thinking, the extreme right is the worst offender in it's refusal to be pragmnatic and adjust it's postion - It is aiding in the murder of all of the babies that can live outside of the womb by not changing its stance.

Meanwhile, the extreme left is hypocritical in it's refusal to recognize the right to life of babies that can live unaided outside of the womb - thay're against the death penalty for criminals, yet allow this pogrom to continue.

If the Democrats are looking at amending their position vis a vis abortion, then they have my attention, my respect and my support on this issue.
