Back in 1984 was the year discussed. Robert says they definitely helped the Celtics win some games or similar.

Talking about corked bats.

The dead spots on the parkay floor date back to the 50's when Bob Cousy and Bill Sharman knew the location of everyone. In those days there were never sell outs during the regular season, so you could hear the ball bounce with a thud when it hit a dead spot (if you sat courtside). A little homecourt advantage but it worked against both teams most of the times. Oscar Robertson knew them as well as any visiting player.

The center of the famous parquet basketball court where the Boston Celtics once played sold for a whopping $331,100 (includes buyer's premium) when bidding closed on June 15 at Sothebys.Amazon.com. Painted with the familiar logo of the Celtics, a winking leprechaun spinning a basketball on his finger, it was expected to sell for $75,000 to $100,000.

Gold64 - do you remember Jungle Jim Luscatoff? He was the enforcer for the great Celtic teams of the 50's and 60's. After he retired he opened a bar outside of Boston (Dedham) that I would frequent from time to time. Nice guy off the court.

I remember reading about this growing up. I believe from DJ, BIRD or AINGE. it only added to the mystique of the garden to me. it really helped get me hooked on the NBA. stuff like this and then going to a game there and staring up at all those championship banners and retired numbers, really turned me on to being a big celtics fan. . . I would also like to add that I was not in a 'seedy' part of massachusettes when having any good C's memorys.
