Factoring in volume and efficiency, Sproles tops Ray Rice and Darren McFadden as the best receiving back in the NFL. His first season with the Saints produced a 10th-place finish. Predicting a slight dropoff in a crowded backfield, Rotoworld ranks Sproles 17th in standard-scoring leagues and 10th in PPR formats.

Darren Sproles (hand surgery) was held out of practice again on Thursday.

Interim coach Joe Vitt is still in "wait and see" mode with Sproles for Sunday's game versus the Falcons. At this point, we would lean toward keeping him out of starting lineups. Expect the three-headed monster of Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram, and Chris Ivory to continue in Week 10.

The Saints have ruled out Darren Sproles (hand) for Week 10 versus Atlanta.

Although some optimistic reports suggested Sproles could return this week after missing just one game, the Saints never put a timetable on his injury. Consider him "week to week." New Orleans employed a three-back timeshare in Sproles' absence last Monday night against the Eagles, essentially distributing touches evenly between Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, and Mark Ingram. Thomas remains the most desirable fantasy option of the group in Week 10.

Darren Sproles (hand) returned to Saints practice Wednesday, getting in a limited session.

Although Sproles was officially limited, interim coach Joe Vitt says he "was full-go in shells and looked good." Barring a setback, Sproles should be ready to roll against the Raiders, and end up missing just two games. His return will further muddy a Saints backfield that grew cloudier with Chris Ivory and Mark Ingram's Week 10 breakouts, though Sproles will remain an RB2 in PPR leagues and flex option in standard formats. How things shake out between New Orleans' trio of power backs in Ingram, Ivory and Pierre Thomas is the million dollar question.
