This green isn't going to be another Mario Viet is he.
Heard a very similar description, and Calzaghe blew him out in one round.

Subject: Danny Green has the goods
OK, got to see the tape and I'm willing to put my neck out. Danny Green has the goods, and I'm talking by the truckload. I was very, very impressed in his fight against Jason DeLisle, who is also a skilled boxer.
Here's the main pluses. 1. Danny Green has enormous power, in both hands. He tends to crowd his opponent and tee off with "short-arm" punches a-la Foreman in his hey day. As they have such a short delivery time, his power puncheds are hard to stop. His jab speed is OK, nothing super, but it has a lot of power behind it and the accuracy is good.
2. He can throw every punch in the book and look good doing it. For a big man he can sure throw punches from a lot of angles. He threw plenty of hooks and uppercuts in this fight, at no time was his opponent safe. And he throws these power punches in combinations.
3. Defence is good and his ring sense too. He has a pretty high guard and a good snse of distance. He is also tall and has a good reach for a Super-Middle.
The only weakness may be his chin. In round three he got hit with a solid, but not decapitating right. It certainly stunned him. However I was impressed how he handled it by smothering his opponent up close, allowing him no further shots with leverage. A minute or so later into the round, he had recoverd completely and continued being the aggressor. It was good experienced boxing.
I think, Danny Green would currently murder Beyer. I think his jab would hinder him against Ottke, but he may well take Ottke out as Ottke tries to rush him. I think Calzaghe vs Green would be fight of the year candidate. I think Calzaghe would have to knock him out, as otherwise I see Calzaghe eating a truck-load of big leather that night. I see Mundine avoiding him at all costs, as Green massive amateur experience, would certainly give him the edge.
Green is certainly a name to watch.

p.s. Keith I never saw Veit. He was very protected.
and my question to conan regarding green..

and conan`s response......
Green has every chance to get a decision. glenn Cately was ahead on the cards when he fought Beyer. Hill beat THE ICON of German boxing, the most popular German boxer ever, Henry Maske. I personally thought the decision sucked, I thought after the first two rounds Hill didn't want a piece of Maske's precise counter punching, but whatever.
Anyhow
I suggest reading the other thread titled Danny Green or maybe it was the Supermiddles thread.
Danny Green has murderous power, has every shot in the book, comes in looking in top shape, doesn't talk smack, is tall for a supermiddle and has good reach and has good defence too. So in other words, he's bringing everything to the table except a laser like jab. But that is more than compensated by his short arm power shots. He creeps in on an opponent, guard up, and then unloads with these murderous arm punches. In my opinion, he is not going to need a decision. I seriously think this guy will be one of the boxers to watch over the next few years. He's big enough to move to Light Heavyweight, no problems.
I'm up on the guy. I'm just waiting for my local bookie to open a market and then I'm in, any price (well anything near evens).

obviously, this guy is an aussie....so you have to take this with a grain of salt.....but he loves green
and as you can see,the odds aren`t ridiculous....and the books aren`t stupid....
but,although green was a very successful amateur,he started his pro career a little late(at 28...he`s 30 now).....
and he`s never fought outside of australia...
that said, beyer is a lefty...not a power puncher by any means....green will have to walk him down....
and contrary to what my aussie friend said,it`s not easy to get a decision in germany....but,i read that the judging will be scrutinized...see below...
"As Germany recently played host to a few controversial decisions, the officials working tomorrow night's boxing show in Nurmberg could face some pressure. Thus, the WBC appointed veteran refs and judges for its title fights: USA's Bill Clancy will be the third man in the ring for the 168lb showdown between Markus Beyer and Danny Green, with Massimo Barrovecchio (Italy), Alfred Bukwana (South Africa) and Humbert Frugoni (France) scoring the bout. Also, Barrovecchio will ref the Alpaslan Aguzum vs Michele Orlando WBC-Intl welter clash, with Bukwana, Frugoni and Bob Logist (Belgium) as judges".
