Fox News Is Absolutely Screwed After Internal Documents Reveal Their Corruption
37,213 views Feb 20, 2023
Fox News is desperately trying to fight off two defamation lawsuits that could cost the company more than $3 billion, and things are going from bad to worse for the company. In a major legal filing last week, Dominion Voting Systems revealed internal communications from the network showing that their own hosts and producers KNEW the election lies they were spreading were completely false, but they went ahead with it anyway. This could be the final nail in the coffin, as Farron Cousins explains.
*This transcript was auto-generated. Please excuse any typos. Last week, dominion Voting Systems filed a 200 page report with the court as part of the ongoing defamation lawsuit that they have filed against Fox News. Fox News is facing, I think, what, 1.6 or 1.3 from Dominion. They also have a 1.7 billion lawsuit from Smart Matic. So you put 'em both together. We're talking about 3 billion worth of lawsuits that Fox News is facing for helping push election lies. And in that 200 page filing last week, dominion listed text messages, emails, other documents, depositions, testimony from producers and hosts at Fox News. And what we found is absolutely devastating for Fox. Devastating to the point where after reading these messages sent between the hosts, the producers, all of it, I don't think Fox News has any chance at all to win this lawsuit. Like I, again, I'm not a lawyer, but I've been in the legal field for almost two decades now, and I'm looking at this and I don't see how Fox News wins. So let me read you a few of the things that the folks at Fox News had to say. Um, well first of all, you had one producer by the name of Tommy Firth, um, who was Laura Ingram's producer. He said, quote, this Dominion sh is going to give me an effing aneurysm as many times have. I told Laura it's bs. She sees sh posters and Trump tweeting about it. So there's one producer that says, we know it's fake. I have told the host that this is BS and she insists on running with it. Anyway, that is pivotal to Dominion's case. And of course there's more. Um, Dana Perino and Anchor on the network, um, said the allegations of voter fraud against Dominion were total bs. They were insane. They're nonsense. Um, Fox News personnel was raising red flags internally about their own colleagues. Um, Brett Bayer pleaded to a network executive saying quote, we have to prevent this stuff. We need to fact check. So you have these hosts, you have these producers, you have the executives. Cuz we've already, you know, Dominion's already made a filing with the emails and memos from the c e O of Fox News. Um, they all say the same thing. Like, we know this is not real. We know this is not true. We can't say it. We've gotta stop the crazies from taking over the CEO of Fox News said in one of these documents. So how does Fox News fight that? Well, Fox News did come out and they issued a statement after all of this came out and They said, quote, uh, there will be a lot of noise and confusion generated by Dominion and their opportunistic private equity owners. But the core of this case remains about freedom of the press and freedom of speech. A lot of noise. Yeah. The noise is your own saying that you are pushing BS and you know you're pushing bs, which is the thing that Dominion has to prove in order to win the case. They have to prove not just that you lied, but that you lied intentionally, that you knew what you were saying wasn't true, that you knew what the guests on your network were saying wasn't true. And honest to God, based on these, uh, communications, based on the text messages, the emails, Dominion's already proved it. Like there's not even a need really to go to trial right now. Fox News, what you need to be doing, instead of writing idiotic statements like we've got freedom of press. Yeah, you need to have your lawyers in a room with executives from Fox News writing numbers down on a piece of paper until y'all can come to an acceptable one that you're willing to pay Dominion to make this go away right now because this will continue to get worse for you. Yes, your network will survive this even if you get hit for the full 3 billion. I know you're not worried about that. The damage to your reputation is gonna be bad. You're gonna lose some viewers over it, but probably not enough to make a dent. The only thing you have to lose really, is money. So again, get in a room, close the doors, start writing down numbers until everybody agrees. Send it over to Dominion and go from there because you will not win this lawsuit. Dominion, their lawyers did a hell of a job on your people and you're pretty much screwed at this point.
