The Stars defense paralyzed the Wild’s offense in Game 5 and Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger turned aside all 27 shots in a convincing 4-0 victory. Dallas now has control of the series, 3-2, and could close it out on Friday night.
But the key to victory for the Stars was merely allowing the Wild to do what they do best – take penalties. Minnesota racked up 27 minutes in the sin bin and the result was a pair of power-play goals by Dallas.
But with the venue shifting to Minnesota, will the result be similar? I think so. I noticed that the Wild’s 24-year-old rookie goalie, Filip Gustavsson, seems like he’s a bit worn down after playing so well throughout the season.
I’m going to side with the Stars to button up this series and lay the very small price the books are asking.
