The Mavericks have had a series of disappointing losses to sub .500 teams this year including their last game against the Kings. This has been a real issue for the team and it was addressed following the loss to the Kings. The Mavericks understand how critical this game is tonight because they are not a shoe in into the postseason as of yet. The next 3 weeks in their schedule are filled with teams who currently hold a playoff spot. They are only 4 games ahead of 9th spot and they risk going below .500 over the next 3 weeks.
The Nuggets lost an overtime thriller to the Nets in their last game by the score of 121-120. As I’ve mentioned before the Nuggets and Knicks are battling each other to finish lower in the standings to keep this years draft pick; a pick the Raptors will snag if they don’t. The Nuggets caught a break yesterday with the Knicks winning and now have a little breathing room. The Nuggets have beat several tough teams at home this year but with the recent trades and the injuries they currently have; it’s unlikely they win many games going forward. I really like the Mavericks with the small spread in this one as they look to finally finish a weaker opponent.
