JimFeistSucks....Here's the best advice you are going to get on investing in Costa Rica....DON'T DO IT! Trust me.

If you are actually trying to complicate and f*ck up your life while blowing a lot of your cash, there are easier and less expensive ways of doing it than investing in Costa Rica. Try marrying a Vegas cocktail waitress with 4 kids and her ass blown out. It will be less expensive and easier to get out of and walk away from.

Why are you interested in investing there, and what are your goals with this investment?

Only I'm hearing negative bout major streets shut down and they have no military to fight anything, lol! I've been hearing alot, I'll have to see with my own 2 eyes when I visit!

Listen to Vice City. That country is not conducive to business right now. Their laws do not and can not protect investment and property. "I keep hearing property values are going up" indicates that you are clueless (please don't take offense).

If you visited the place and maybe liked the girls, then that's fine. Keep visiting and enjoy yourself. But don't be under any illusions that you can go down there with a fist full of dollars, set up a joint and live happily ever after. You'll regret it. Investment is easy to get into in CR, but almost impossible to get out of. You are a gambling man, JimFeist Sux, so I'll put it in gambling terms....you'll be the square action down there.

Why do you think you can make substantial profits that would justify your risk in a country that is poverty stricken, with people making $80 a week?

Well, isnt this beautiful always AMERICAN say shit about Costa Rica.
As in almost every country you have to be careful, here you can find a lot of people that can help you, and many others that cant. Problems and more problems, yes like everywhere.
What you must do is just do a little research, really plan what you want and find the right people to do it. There are some companies that can really help you out with your project, and they will give you great assistance. Dont wanted to get involved cause a friend of mine is already helping you, but if you want more info shoot me an email jorzavfa@hotmail.com or jorzavfa@myrealbox.com.
This is just to give you info about some companies and if you want help you in more stuff. and too try to keep AMERICAN away from letting Costa Rica grow up.

You missed the boat by a couple of years. Better off buying in Panama or Nicaragua. Its too expensive compared to the surronding countries.

Draco, I'm just trying to help the guy to NOT make a huge mistake. I like how you slide yourlittle plug in there at the end. It looks like your friend already has a few hooks into him. Why does Costa Rica have to try to "grow up" on somebody else's money?

One advice to JFS. If you do decide to buy a business in CR, you have to be here to oversee it.

If not, everything will be stolen from you..

I have seen this happen too often here.

If you dont know, and that is what is seems, do you know how investments help a country grow up. Not only from outsiders even from Ticos too. Is just a matter of with who you get involved, like for instance if I need some help or info there in the states, I think that I will never ask you something cause for me you just hate everybody for not being a Redneck. Huge mistake is not getting the correct information, and then throw your money to the garbage. Yes Costa Rica, is having some problems but nothing that might break down the country.
If you want to help him, so tell him where he can go so no one steal his money! or just dont saying anything else bad from Costa Rica.

Sometimes the best move is no move, and I think that's the case here. There are simply better places to put money right now, other than Costa Rica. In fact, you're better off burying money inside Ball-jars in your backyard than investing in Costa Rica. There are anti-American demostrations and social upheaval taking place as I type this out. There was almost a national economic crisis last week over a RUMOR that a bank was closing. That place is shakey as f*ck. It doesn't take a rocket-scientist to figure that out.

Where in the hell did you heard anti American demostrations??? where is happening that?? The strike going on in the past two days wasnt anti american, was anti Riteve, for more public salary increase, and just to make the goverment think more about the TLC, not for not getting involved in it.
And yes Rumors happens here and everywhere, but there where no economic crisis going on, so please before writting down learn to read spanish.
And for your knowledge there is no place in the world that doesnt have anything "shakey as f*ck".
Just using common sense will help him to do a good investment or not to do it, is his choice.

JIM..

There are many investment opportunities here, and land and restaurants are 2 very viable ones..I have many friends who are buying property all over CR..The "HOT SPOTS"..are definitely the beach properties on the Pacific Side..As for restaurants,if you serve quality food, please come here..The good places are packed, and they are few and far between..

I have lived here almost 4 years, and being a New Yorker I understand location and food..If I can be of any assistance, please call me..All my numbers are on my sites..

There are a few quality real estate people here..The food culture here is quite different than in the states..Great food though is universally understood..

Gas is $5 a gallon down in Costa Rica if anyone wants to hurry down there and get in on that fun. Just go around the street fires.
