Run Spybot or Adaware & see if that helps anything. Has anything been un or reinstalled?

I have seen performance go to shit over time just due to normal use, but you make it sound like this was sudden.

This is a longshot, but check your disk for errors & defragment it.

Probably some programs running that you dont need.

If you recently installed anything that you can remember, that may have done it.

Whale, the only think i have done is reinstall the virus protection and spyware that runs out next week, however this was sudden like in 10 minutes. I just can't beleive it could have gone to shit that fast. Going to tinker and then have somebody look at it Mon. Thanks

Will defragment right now, at this speed should take about 6 hours instead of five minutes. Shows doesn't need defrafmentation, but will do anyway. Thanks:WTF:

I think you might have changed the settings on the virus when re-installing.

Actually, go into services & stop\disable your virus scanner for the time being and see if that fixes it.

Computer at a Standstill

I will do that this afternoon. I have gotten the speed up quite a bit by reinstalling the Linsky's Wireless modem. It is about four years old and i don't know what the life is on them, but i reinstalled it and pushed the reset button and it went up about 4 times what it was. Still only at about 70% of what it should be. Thanks for the info:thank's
