It’s almost hard to believe, but two teams will take to the field on Saturday for the start of the 2020 NCAA college football season. The Austin Peay Governors will face the Central Arkansas Bears live on ESPN at 9 p.m. on August 29th.
The Bears will actually play in the first two games this season, as Central Arkansas then has the quick turnaround to face UAB on Thursday, September 3rd, to be broadcast by ESPN3.
The first big day of full FBS football will be Saturday, September 5th, as six games will be in action. The SMU Mustangs will face the Texas State Bobcats for the first full-FBS game of the season. It would be a huge event for the emerging campus in San Marcos if a full crowd was able to attend, but the campus will be limiting attendance to just 7500 fans.
Saturday, September 5th
Eastern Kentucky vs. Marshall, 1:00 p.m., ESPN
SMU vs. Texas State* (FBS), 4:30 p.m., ESPN
Louisiana Monroe vs. Troy (FBS) 7:00 p.m., ESPN3
Houston Baptist vs. North Texas, 7:30 p.m., ESPN3
Arkansas State vs. Memphis (FBS), 8:00 p.m., ESPN
Stephen F. Austin vs. UTEP, 9:00 p.m., ESPN3
On Labor Day, BYU becomes the first team to make a trip across time zones during the 2020 season. They head to Annapolis to face the Midshipmen in their first game without quarterback Malcolm Perry following a fantastic career. Perry Olsen looks to be the replacement to key the triple-option offense in 2020.
Monday, September 7th
BYU vs. Navy, 8:00 p.m., ESPN
There aren’t any lines or totals for these games yet, but we’ll make sure to add them once they become available.
