While the cost per head nation waits just one more week for the SEC showdown between the No. 1 LSU Tigers and No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide, there are a handful of games worth watching this Saturday. With the exception of the SEC as the most dominant football conference, the PAC-12 has made improvements over the past couple of seasons with two of the top teams in the country as both the Stanford Cardinal and Oregon Ducks rank in the top-10. Meanwhile, the No. 23 Auburn Tigers will look to bounce back from their worst loss of the season when they host Ole Miss.

With the exception of their season-opening loss to top-ranked LSU, the Ducks have gone undefeated including a win over then-no. 18 Arizona State. The problem for Oregon though is that the loss to the Tigers was their second against SEC opposition in as many tries dating back to their BCS National Title game loss to Auburn, and with Stanford the lone ranked team remaining on their schedule it will be hard for them to be regarded any higher than they were after this past week. Oregon has cruised through their PAC-12 schedule and seem destined to remain undefeated in the pay head conference at least until their meeting with the Cardinal, so they should win big again here.

The defending national champions were beaten up pretty good by LSU in their last outing, and now need a win at home against the unranked Rebels to remain in the top-15. That should be a lot easier with running back Michael Dyer bursting through the line against a defense that has allowed an average of 29.1 points per game, a big difference from the Tigers’ stellar units that he was forced to deal with a price per head week ago. Auburn might not win a bowl this year, but they should be able to hang on to a top-25 spot until they face Alabama to close out the season.

The fact that Stanford owns the nation’s longest winning streak is impressive enough at 15 games, but when you factor in that each of their last 10 wins have come by at least 25 points, it is downright scary. With Andrew Luck destined to become the top pick in next year’s NFL draft, there is almost no stopping the Cardinal train from facing the winner of Alabama and LSU in the BCS national title game if they can get past Oregon in the per head middle of November. Stanford is the closest thing to a lock to remain undefeated until then, and it’s hard to imagine USC slowing them down this Saturday.
