With Championship Week 2012 now underway, the pay head anticipation is building for the top-25 teams in the country to get in to the action and establish their dominance on the court. The first time that we will see ranked teams in action will be this Thursday with some Big 12 and Big Ten conference title tournament action. The No. 11 Baylor Bears will play the Kansas State Wildcats in a Big 12 quarterfinal matchup, while the No. 15 Indiana Hoosiers take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in the first round of the Big Ten tournament, as the countdown to the March Madness betting continues.

This will serve as the rubber match between the Wildcats and Bears after the two squads split their Big 12 season series, with both teams winning on the opponent’s home court. Since the game will be played at Kansas City the unranked Kansas State could be considered the home team, perhaps it is Baylor that gets the advantage. The Bears opened the season with an incredible 17 straight wins and were right there with Kansas and Missouri as conference favorites when the Big 12 season got underway, but they won just 12 of 18 conference games, tying Iowa State for the third-most wins after dropping an 80-72 decision on the road to the Hoosiers in their regular season finale. Kansas State finished two games back of the Bears in the standings after beating both Baylor and Missouri in back-to-back games before knocking off Texas A&M and Oklahoma State to close out the pay per head sportsbook season. Angel Rodriguez has learned a lot for the Wildcats in his freshman year, but even with a ton of talented pieces it will be hard for Kansas State to pull this one off against a Baylor team desperate to prove it belongs.

Despite losing three straight games in mid-January, including two against unranked teams, Indiana found itself ranked 15th in the nation and fifth in the Big Ten with a strong surge towards the end of their season. The Hoosiers won seven of their final eight games including a clutch performance at home against then No. 5 Michigan State, with each of their final four wins coming by at least 11 points. Indiana matched up well against Penn State in both meetings, taking the first on the road 88-82, and then winning at home by 19 in a game in which freshman Cody Zeller went off for 18. Zeller leads the Hoosiers in both points and rebounding this season, showing a lot of maturity over the past couple of months, and will be in the focus as Indiana looks to hand the Nittany Lions their fifth straight loss, and tenth in 12 games overall as the price per head bookie favorites.
