Heading in to one of the final weekends before the March Madness betting begins, this Saturday really should be just about the Big 12, and then everybody else in terms of the importance of each game on the schedule. The No. 3 Missouri Tigers will travel to the Phog Allen Fieldhouse to battle the No. 5 Kansas Jayhawks in a showdown that most likely will decide the Big 12 this season, while the No. 13 Michigan Wolverines look to continue their strong play at home, and the No. 2 Syracuse Orange look to remain in pursuit of the top spot in the country when they visit the Connecticut Huskies as pay per head sportsbook favorites.

The Tigers’ hot shooting ways got the best of Kansas the first time these teams met, but under a different roof, with a different crowd, and a revised game plan the Jayhawks will open to avenge that loss and get their hands on a two-game lead in the Big 12 standings. Kansas has won five-straight games since losing to Missouri, which fell to Kansas State the other night in a brutal effort that pulled them back one-game in the standings. The Tigers will have a tough time regaining their confidence quickly enough to rebound against a Kansas team that has designs on an eighth straight Big 12 title and kept it close down to the wire in their first pay head meeting, especially since the crowd is not on their side this time around.

Losses to Ohio State and Michigan State seemed to eliminate the Wolverines from contention in the Big Ten back in early February, but with four straight wins including a 56-51 win over the Buckeyes last week, Michigan is suddenly back in contention for top spot in the conference, just one game back. The Wolverines play their final three games against unranked teams including two of the bottom three teams in the conference, so their ultimate fate is now in their own hands. Purdue has played better as of late, winning two of its last three on the road, but that won’t make it any easier to keep this game close.

The price per head bookies understand everything that is on the line for the Orange in this game and will reflect it in the spread, but considering how awful the Huskies have looked at times this season it is hard to take them even with the points. Kris Joseph is averaging 14 points per game while Scoop Jardine is playing the best basketball of his career at guard, and that tandem should only continue to improve as we inch closer to the Madness.
